Title: Re: Flight Planners (for general aviation sim pilots) Post by: TX-EcoDragon on September 20, 2003, 12:19:47 pm Well, im not sure what you mean, but for those of you out there that use GA (General Aviation) sims like X-plane Microsoft FS series, etc. these are two little basic (and generic with respect to aircraft profile) flight planners. So all you need to do is enter the departure airport identifier, and the destination ident, and then the type of routing that you want, Low altitude airways will rout you between those two points by using VOR/VORTAC radio beacons (most common means for navigation) and GPS direct will plot a great circle direct flight between those two points. GPS direct would be ideal if terrain, airspace, and other factors did not exist. . . it is your call. For example, if I type in the ID of my home base here in Davis, and then the airport where my father lives, and select low alt airways I getRouteVOR Frequencies (and then tune the mag crs on the OBS) Altitude Ground Speed Magnetic Course (the ground track of your flight as indicated on your compass)DistanceTime Fuel used So, for those of you who dont have sectional charts for manual flight planning, this is a quick and easy way to plan a flight. All you need to know is the departure and destination identifiers (which is easy in Microsoft Sims and semi easy in X-Plane), and then the basics of VOR (or GPS Navigation)S!TX-EcoDragonBlack 1TX Squadron XO
