Title: Call of Duty
Post by: TX-BlackKnight on October 31, 2003, 03:46:59 pm
While you guys are busy taking care of the air battles I have been ( since yesterday ) killing Germans in France.

This is one kick-azz game !!!

Hint : Don't try and rush a Panzer with an M1. Panzer ALWAYS wins !!!

Got the game, the music cd, and the Hint book ( book free with rebate from EB games ) and free overnight for all. Think they lowered it to two day now.

And I thought MOHAA was a killer game...this thing makes MOHAA look like...like....like.....BF1942 !!!!

Man, I can just imagine what it would be like to have all of TX on the same side in Multiplayer...OMFG !!

Without giving anything away....Car chase is funnier than hell. Think a shortened version was in the demo.~S~BKFlame Broiled - Just The Way You Like Em'

I'll be gettting the game when it comes out. I love FPS stuff, you guys can count me in for Multiplayer. When I played Ghost Recon a while back, I went by the name of "Sgt. Fury", maybe some of you guys saw me at Ubi on the GR servers?TX-BomblastRed2

I wish I read this before I went to EB games. I just picked up the Operation Barbarosa expansion pack 300 missions for our OC3, for $10.... And that my squad mates, is a telling sign that I am ready to delve into another FPS as we did with Battle Field 1942 and Black Hawk Down. Are you interested in another splinter faction comms channel? With out comms I'm not to interested in a FPS.TX-KingsnakeWhite >+

This game is in a class by itself IMHO. With Comms in Multiplayer we would OWN !!!The first time I was introduced to FPS a few months back I took to it like a duck to ice skates. Kicked my arse at first but I was soon addicted to it more than caffein. Now with this game I can't even put into words the graphics and the whole package.I am simply blown away ( and not just by the Panzers...lol )The demo was/is just a tease compared to the actual game. Wait till you see the graphics at the dam ( hint hint ).I know I have everything turned up to the max..but I turned evrything down just to see the difference. Yes there is a difference but it still is heads above anything else I have seen.~S~BKFlame Broiled - Just The Way You Like Em'

Roger, picked up a copy this afternoon.Immediately dissapointed because there is no co-op, and the father-in-law who is visiting picked up a copy too.   We were planning on shifting the sights from Ghost Recon to CoD and since no co-op, well there is no co-op for us!Looks like a bit of offline play to get familiar, then we'll possibly hit the servers later on tonight. If there is a way to search for players online, look for TX-Deck and TX-Ardie.  (I'm going to slap an honorary TX callsign on the father-in-law for this game. Given his experience with FPS gaming, he actually has a real good idea of what it takes, plus some real-world combat experience.)TX-Deck out.

Ok, we both made it thru the first couple of missions, and are working on the third.   The second and third mission are the same that are included in the downloadable demo. What a rush!   Pretty cool so far.Note, we found copies on the shelf at CompUSA.   Best Buy had a pre-order box on the shelf, but won't get copies until Nov. 6th.    How odd?TX-Deck out.

Ok Gents...I went and bought the game last night.  I've completed all the missions... (I hate single player mode)..  I cannot play online however...  I get an error whenever I launch the multiplayer game... Looked on the activision site and found no fix for it yet....  So...Unless I get multiplayer working...I will bring the software back.  It does work in single player mode...Error:The game rocks...period....  Now I just need a fix so I can play with you all online...  This sucks.  Bummed...RAHRegards,TX-Rahman"BLUE 2"

Rahman, at first glance I think this game is based on the QuakeIII engine, you might have some luck looking under Quake III support or other games that run with it.    Just an idea.I'm just about finished up with the single player missions.   The game rocks but I still wouldn't call it the end-all of FPS.   I'm expecting to get the rest of my money's worth once I start online multi-player.TX-Deck out.

Online impressions:Search and Destroy, Retrieve are my favorite games so far.   Deathmatch is for Quake twitchers, and Behind Enemy Lines is just silly mayhem. It takes a few minutes to get used to every map and where the items are, but other than that gameplay appears to be fairly smooth and well thought out.  There is a "kill-cam" feature that replays the episode when you get killed by another player.  I have noticed on some of the replays that even though I thought I got some shots in on an enemy, from his point of view I wasn't even looking in his direction or my shots are trailing him by several feet.   Not sure if this is lag or my behind the times FPS ability.   Oh well, having a ball, and waiting for others to join in the fun.  This is a good filler for when the planes are on the ground, and I think it will help out our comms as well.TX-Deck out.

The game is still only 2 or 3 weeks old, and already people hosting servers are catching on to small things to make the play more enjoyable.   Rahman and I played for a bit on thursday night, but right now I'm in FB mode.   If/When you get the full version and are ready to go online for some team action, just hit Cuda, Rahman, BK or me up and we'll be glad to chime in.(btw, I haven't seen BK out there once, and he's the darn reason I bought this thing.   Where oh where is my flame broiled?)I tried something a little different for an hour this afternoon.   Went into the single player and selected veteran (or whatever was the most difficult) and started a new offline game.    The enemy is smart, moves around often, no health, very limited ammo, and I got my arse handed to me over and over.   After a while, and only on the third map, it felt like the movie "Groundhawg Day".   Spawn, run, duck, die.  Spawn, run, duck, die.  Spawn, run, duck, crawl, die.   Progress was literally THAT slow.   It was a hoot!  Or maybe I'm just a glutton for punishment, not sure.TX-Deck out.
