If you know a way to get silver to come out in photoshop, hook me up. It's not a real color and is a pain to get done right. There is another layer to this mustang template that has a silver effect on the body of the plane, I bet I can tweak it to get it in the ball park.TX-ZenBlack 6

Testing  . . . 1. . .2. . . I gathered up all of the downloaded PSDs and skins I had. . looked at them all to see which looked the best at medium and high settings (ie most liek metal) some looked better at low quality, but were too colorful at high settings. . I blended some aspects of a few of them, and got this. . . the TX writing should be inboard as Zen did above, and Zen doesnt liek teh chekers. . .but. . anyway. . this is just here for folks to take a gander at, more for the novelty of the metal skinned TX Mustang.S!TX-EcoDragonBlack 1TX Squadron XO

Yes, 3. . you are wrong!!Hehe. . .you need to see it in game, or in photoshop,  its actually fairly colorful. IL-2/FB doesnt handle the mirror finish, so you have to simulate it. The problem is that a mirror finish by nature changes fairly dramatically as it moves with respect to the light source. Simply takinga picture of a real brushed aluminum mustang gives a good effect when the light is from above, but when in unusual atitudes the effect looks funny, so this one is semi homogenized top to bottom, so it does have a more white look to it than some, there are others out there that look remarkable. .  until they start to maneuver.In photoshop you can use a motion blur of a gradient to give the effect, you can use some of the funny filters like Plastic Wrap etc.I will update it a bit, since Zen didn't hack my head off when he saw it!  ;-)S!TX-EcoDragonBlack 1TX Squadron XO

As I mentioned last night, I think the skin looks great and you are more than welcome to TX-ize it with the standard position of the logo, TX lettering and pilot name on the wing. This skin is really good and while I don't like anything other than our standard camo scheme (and prolly never will) I will authorize Eco's completed silver mustang skin for general use as desired. That means you are welcome to fly either skin for the mustang...it really is a nice looking silver and I can appreciate the appeal. I think with the TX touches added it will be a damn fine skin. Having said that, I'm back to the drawing board. Every skin has it's own quirks when applying the camo pattern and for some reason the mustang is more difficult than others. I have to redo a few things because frankly I'm not happy with what I created last night. Here's an idea of what to expect though:TX-ZenBlack 6

Here is one of mine that has actual bare metal P-51 photos laid up in the layers. On the ground, and in normal flight attitudes I think it looks awesome!  Buuuuut. . .roll her inverted and. . well .. you guys look and tell me if you like the more homogenized skin that looks less good most of the time, or this skin that look great some of the time. (please ignore the top and bottom of the fuse, the wings and horizontals stabs. . I just did the fuse sides and vertical tail so far as a test.  I am looking for that happy medium. . this is a pain in the but, but I am also really enjoying it! I saw LeadSplitter's blue nosed bastards skin and thought it would be cool to have something similar but to have the nose color match your elemental color....Look at the pics below...do you all like the nose color thing?  I would like to have the checkerboard thing near the prop like Eco...maybe we could work together on this one?I even wanna name my P51 and paint it on the nose of the plane...Regards,TX-Rahman"BLUE 2"

hehehe .. . I know FR. . ;-)Interesting that you should do that Rah. . I just did that same thing!!I was experimenting with the ruddder being colored also, for whatever reason it just didnt look right to me. . .especially the white and the black. Well, it just dawned on me that we can test these as AI. . so lets get a server going and compare and see what we have going. I sorta though Leadspitters  base looked a bit blotchy. On the one hand it looks great in many of the more colorful skins that he does like teh moonbeam McSwine etc.  I have used some of his layers for adding the colored nose and tails as is evidenced in my last pics, and then tried the BNB nose colors as teh template for the TX sections.
