Title: Funtana S Post by: TX-EcoDragon on February 21, 2004, 05:25:34 am Well, as luck would have it, just when I couldnt get any more busy than I am, I get a random gift. . . one that my mom says was designed to make up for the copper enameling kit she got me for my 13th birthday (instead of the R/C Christen Eagle Biplane I was in love with!). It was out of blue, but she has a friend who had a few for an unbeatable price, about 1/3 what they sell for, and her friend and I had spoken about this very plane, and so they knew I had planned for it to be my next R/C aircraft and told her as much (even though I had no real intentions, ie. money, to spend on R/C).
Well, I have been working on it the last two evenings. . .here is the plane, and a video of it using the same powerplant I am using in it. FuntanaS Freestyle: http://www.3dbatix.com/videos/funtana.wmv http://www.rcsites.net/kyle300s/kyle%20hey%20ya.wmv Very cool flying sequence of a recovered funtana in a winter wonderland! (copy and paste into browser if link doesnt work) FuntanaS vs. U-Can-Do 3D Torque roll challenge: http://www.10374.com/3dbatix/videos/funtanavsucd.wmv ![]() Look at the size of the ailerons!! Obviously this is designed to be effective below stall speeds, where 3D flying goes on. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The bottom of the wings and tail are interesting, transparent yellow (with blue trim), which helps differentiate the top from bottom in flight, and looks dang cool up close. . . I like being able to see the woodgrain, and structure. I should have it finished by next weekend. . . I have all the control surfaces installed, and am starting on the engine mounting. I just hope I can fly this squirelly little monster! Oh, and it is powered by a Saito 100 4 Stroke. . just like the one in the videos. S! Title: Re: Funtana S Post by: TX-EcoDragon on February 21, 2004, 05:16:57 pm yes, try it in RealFlight.Do a hammerhead or a half loop off the top (called a humpty bump) at idle power and dive straight down. Start a roll to the right using only aileron inputs (in this case to the right but either works), then. . .wait. . nevermind. . I have a link to a video that shows the control inputs. . .See this Thread: http://www.txsquadron.com/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=&TOPIC_ID=1446S!TX-EcoDragonBlack 1TX Squadron XO
