Title: Fly the Blue Angels F-18 in LOMAC! (sorta)
Post by: TX-EcoDragon on March 19, 2004, 06:27:41 pm
Very cool!

I have set this up, if only the game ran good enough for me for real formation flying!

I had some issues with the addon, nothing major, I think related to the sound pack that I installed too. I will re-install it without the sound pack. This is pretty fun, of course the only downside is that other players just see you in an F-15 unless they have the mod. Of course it looks like a lot of people will be getting it!S!TX-EcoDragonBlack 1TX Squadron XO

I reinstalled the Blue angels addon without the soundpack . .and it runs well. The novelty is fast wearing off for me, but the skin and aircraft look great other than a few minor gripes (afterburners not lined up with exhaust, nose gear issue, loadouts hover in front of the wing etc). It would be great to have an actual F-18 to put this skin on!I have done some formation with LOMAC, and it is much easier than in FB, mostly becasause throttle and brake response is so good , the aircraft are very smooth, and the control panel allows for great customizations to work with your particular stick. (no editing the conf.ini if you use rudder pedals either)If I had a new computer I would certainly contemplate making myself a permanent fixture on a LOMAC formation team, but for now I have to limit myself to being in proximity to no more than two aircraft. Even at 800X600 res  :-(I get about 9-13 fps most of the time, which is better than before,  setting sound accel to off actually didnt casue me to lose anything as far as I noticed, but the audio (from tower and betty) don't casue stutters for me now.now its just general crappy performance. . but im slowly winning this battle!Ersk tells me that LOMAC is going for 9 bucks at staples. . . cant beat that.S!TX-EcoDragonBlack 1TX Squadron XO

well, keep in mind that its pretty awesome at those 13 fps! Also I could go down to 800x600 res. . but well . no I cant. . . at 1024x768 at medium low settings that is what I get when looking down. There are so many optimizations out there though, I think its just a matter of dialing it in. One of the VHVT guys has a list of things, will translate it from italin and post it.  There are ways to change the objects that you are shown at detailed settings, but you must edit the .ini files, hopefully I can write a easy how to. We will see.S!TX-EcoDragonBlack 1TX Squadron XO

A few guys I know have gotten LOMAC to run really good on their machines. I know they've fooled around with it alot, I ask them and see what they've done. I'll post the results.TX-BomblastRed3
