Title: PF Joystick issues
Post by: TX-CUDA on October 31, 2004, 03:33:46 pm
...loaded PF both stand alone and over FB/AEP and now I am having some hellacious joystick troubles. I managed to take off but the plane rolls to the right no matter how hard the stick is pushed to the left. Looked in the book and loaded the joystick config they suggested and it seems worse now!....

...any ideas?

Your PF+AEP will use your previous settings. The Stand-alone however will not. Does this problem happen in both? I figure you calibrated already?S!TX-EcoDragonBlack 1TX-Squadron XO

....first question,Yes, it lets you install BOTH PF as standalone and you can also install it over FB/AEP...Eco, I went into the PF/FB/AEP version and it did the same darn thing.Very little response when the stick is moved to the left...the plane was slowly rolling over on it's right side and I crashed no matter what I did. I just ran the joystick calibration again and am going to see if this takes care of it....TX-CudaMinister of Information

also keep in mind that if you have multiple controllers plugged in the IDs will change such that your old roll axis may have been mapped to X axis ID2 (for example) back when you had your USB Nostromo plugged in (for example), now that it is unpluugged the ID number has changed such that the roll will now need to be re-mapped to set it to the propper ID.S!TX-EcoDragonBlack 1TX-Squadron XO

....after doing the re-calibrate it seems to be a lot better than it started after the first load. i will play with the settings a bit tonight to try and get a little more response...but at least it's flyable now....TX-CudaMinister of Information

....Just re-loaded IL-2 and will pick up the 1946 version.....is there a good joystick config like what Oleg posted back in the day that will optimize a Logitech joystick?Have several {FEAR} members from COD4 that are flying and I am getting the bug again to do some heavy bombing like back in the day!!TX-CUDA{FEAR}TX-CUDAtx-cuda@gmail.comTX-CudaMinister of Information

I thought I had a stick problem. I took apart my rudder pedals and adjusted the centering. Now it stops pulling me over to one side. I thought calibration would take care of it but the hardware needs to be centered. For now that looks to have been the problem. Lubing the rails made things much nicer for coordinated flight. The inclinometer seems to be the instrument I look at the most in IL2 since everything else is displayed in the speed bar.TX-Kingsnake
