Title: BATTLEFIELD: 1942 Post by: TX-Rahman on October 07, 2002, 09:51:48 am Hey peeps....I know this isn't related to IL2 but has anyone here played Battlefield 1942? I just looked at the screenshots and it looks incredible! Shed some light on whether it would be worth dropping some dimes on. Maybe we could branch TXSquadron onto other games as well?

I beat it as Allied and Axis (hard mode) the first night I had it. Would have taken a total of maybe 2 hours to achieve this, if it weren't for taking my comp about 15 minutes to load each mission....lol. God I am glad I am working on a new sweetheart (comp). All in all, it is a good game. Of course its no ghost recon, and is pretty much arcade.S~TX-CageBlack 5
Title: Re: BATTLEFIELD: 1942 Post by: TX-Rahman on October 07, 2002, 12:06:31 pm Cage, Also seems like it would be cool to play online against other peeps... Tanking, flying or something... You play it online at all? Is it worth buying?Regards,TX-Rahman"BLUE 3"
Title: Re: BATTLEFIELD: 1942 Post by: TX-Kingsnake on October 07, 2002, 03:14:29 pm I have been asking about 1942. I will be checking it out tonight. I was thinking that with Zen in command of a tank company, we could rule the air and ground. Let me check it out tonight and I'll post what I think. I do think that branching out the TX squadron to another game is a very good idea.Regards,TX-KingsnakeWhite 1
Title: Re: BATTLEFIELD: 1942 Post by: LW_Tornado on October 07, 2002, 06:25:55 pm Played it , on line as well, the planes SUCK A** , period , bottom line , other than that its ok, might be decent, maps r quite small but its ok, no medal winner. Blue 2 Bill
Title: Re: BATTLEFIELD: 1942 Post by: TX-Cage on October 07, 2002, 09:05:44 pm I played it a little online here and there. Saw very little team tactics involved, in any of the servers that I went in. Mostly runin and gunin. As far as the other vehicles, its a race to beat someone to them. I finally gave up and simply went way out just below a ridge line and sniped. Of course I have always been a sniper in online squads for FPS games. So I was happier with it anyway. I defenitly agree that the planes suck ass. No joystick support at all. All keyboard flyin, though I haven't tried to set up the Cougar for it yet...not sure how that would be. I think the game is about a 6 out of 10. That is just me though, it seems to be a big hit.I unistalled it a few days after getting it. Think it was just to "arcade" for me. Oh, and I hate the damn jeep drivers, and grenadiers...lol. This game is great for others. Just didn't fit my cup of tea.S~TX-CageBlack 5

Title: Re: BATTLEFIELD: 1942 Post by: TX-Kingsnake on October 10, 2002, 03:24:23 pm Cuda and I tried the multiplayer demo. I played it once, the rest of the time I had to reboot at the loading screen. Interesting concept. The game is a jack of all trades, master of none. The strongpoint of the gameplay is in the first person shooter and big gun artillery. Watching others drive around in tanks looked interesting, yet lacked realism. The planes flew around at very low altitude, again lacking realism in the flight model. I enjoyed playing the scout with the rifle scope. TX-BigStick was right when he said that it isn't a medal winner.Regards,TX-KingsnakeWhite 1
Title: Re: BATTLEFIELD: 1942 Post by: papote1 on October 17, 2002, 01:46:09 am hello all texans and most of all houstonians, this is my first post here.I also got Battlefield 1942 since i enjoy games like Half Life's day of defeat.to my disapointment the game runs like crap under win 98. so i never really play it. And they just anounced the new patch coming out wich talks about refresh rate fix for winXP but it says that there is nothing they can do for win98....they should have told us this before i went and bought itXXX
Title: Re: BATTLEFIELD: 1942 Post by: TX-Kingsnake on October 18, 2002, 01:07:32 am I like it for now. I doubt I'll be playing it for more than a month or 2.Regards,TX-KingsnakeWhite 1
