Title: FIGHT TIME! TX-STS vs TGD.. WEDNESDAY Post by: TX-Gunslinger on February 22, 2005, 03:20:16 am SCRIMMAGE - SCRIMMAGE - SCRIMMAGE
Date: Wednesday, Feb 23 Time: 2030 Central, 1830 Pacific Place: PROWAR Servers Wars (69.50.182.98:21005) Opponent: The Greater Green Server, TGD squadron Our comrades in the TGD squadron have challenged us to a friendly scrimmage against them for Wednesday nite, in preparation for the SERVER WARS! Please post your availablity. If you are not available on Wednesday, please list your availability for Thursday nite same time. It is possible I can reschedule for Thursday if it allows maximum participation by our groups, but I can't garantee I'll be able to pull off a reschedule, as I'm testing my equipment tommorow and flying to San Diego at 1700 CST, so I won't see the boards and email until about 2100 PST. Sorry for the late notice, but this just came in today. Respectfully request maximum participation. Even though I'm traveling to San Diego, I'm planning on lugging my Cougar, TrackIR, Headset, and yes my large RUDDER PEDALS in a suitcase, just so I can attend. I have done this once before and it worked, but man it's a pain getting all this stuff through security! Please come if at all possible, we need you! Every one of you. Now is the time if you feel your flying is rusty to "get on the wagon". There is no need for any of our members to be "left out". As most of you know, the competition format contains significant ground and naval objectives, and of course there are always airplanes to kill. Bomber pilots we need you more than ever, so strap up, load it on and lets cause some mayhem. I am available either night.Zen

Title: Re: FIGHT TIME! TX-STS vs TGD.. WEDNESDAY Post by: TX-Zen on February 24, 2005, 10:00:59 am Gentlemen, Good job last night in the scrim, I was quite pleased with several internal training issues. We instituted seperate channel comms by section for the first time and imho, not only did that work, it worked extremely well. Comms discipline was tight and we were able to communicate in an effective manner...at last my dream of great comms has come true :)Flight leaders, we need to get together tonight to discuss opinions and perceptions of how the different sections performed and how each of us felt the dynamics of the organization and movement went. I should be on in the later part of the evening for a while. I was disappointed with the emphasis on low level dogfighting and felt that situation didn't meet my training agenda. I was expecting more of a mid to high altitude combined arms mission oriented to ground attack as we have seen against TUSA and other outfits, but what we saw were predominantly yaks flying at extremely low level with the occasional ground pounder mixed in. This is and remains a weakness of the sim and turns it into a gaming situation rather than an immersive experience. (at least for me)Target aquisition is difficult due to the architecture of the sim and this tends to favor agile aircraft flying at unhistoric altitudes, makes BnZ nearly ineffective and works completely against the kinds of aircraft we fly, which then requires unrealistic tactics etc etc. Very effective tactics for winning but pointless for what our combined squads want to get out of training. We certainly would have faired better in air to air had we all flown agile aircraft, but then again thats not why we fly in the manner we do. On the whole I was very happy with our performance...we met several training objectives that the leadership had identified in past scrims, attendance was outstanding and comms were great. We continue to improve in our style of flying and for that I am pleased, but this particular engagement was outside of the parameters that I enjoy and so training effectiveness was rather limited in other areas. Salute to each of you and to TGD for allowing us a good opponent to train against, no matter the outcome I am happy we acheived the specific objectives that we intended to. Zen

Title: Re: FIGHT TIME! TX-STS vs TGD.. WEDNESDAY Post by: TX-CUDA on February 28, 2005, 09:14:12 pm ....just got back from south of Sulfer,La......Sorry I was not able to fly this weekend as I don't have the "To-Go" setup that our compadre Gunslinger has. I was able to get the video of TX-CudaJR learning how to get those tails out of those "mudbugs" we boiled up yesterday though! He now knows how to do the snap the second joint and twist method and had to have eaten a good four pounds or so himself........I am having some serious connection issues with Time Warner here and have been on the phone with them for the last hour so I will try and fly...if not I'll practice my HE-111 or an other bomber as I can fly it offline on one of my maps. I might be able to meet Ya'll on HL later tonight as it seems to clear up after 9PM........I know that I can still be the bait you fighters need when the opposing fighters go after me! I have two 'chutes just in case!!TX-CudaMinister of Information
