Title: Re: Is Anyone Still Here?? Post by: TX-CUDA on August 26, 2005, 07:13:44 pm ...Good to see you guys are still checking in from time to time! I know Eco has been posting some pretty good stuff over the past few months as have others. I finally told the Verizon that I was taking a weekend off...NO QUESTIONS!!....and am looking forward to getting to sleep as long as I need to in a dark room with the air cranked down to 65.(I don't have to pay a light bill here) and just relaxing. I will try to hit the TX-oc3 server some time probably Sunday afternoon or evening. I have to tell Ya'll that I have been there several times and I have had trouble with my joystick after the upgrade to the sim. I re-calibrated it and tried it again but it still seems that it is WAY to sensitive. Those of you that have been flying on a regular basis I have to ask...is there a fix that I might have missed since I haven't been checking the UBI forums for quite a while? ...at any rate, plan on seeing me on the OC3 on and off Sunday. I will make a point of hitting the OC3 Sunday sometime between 8PM and 11PM Central time. ...good to see Ya'll again!RockyTX-CudaMinister of Information

Title: Re: Is Anyone Still Here?? Post by: TX-CUDA on September 22, 2005, 04:35:19 pm Hope Rahman made it to Dallas with the severe traffic jams that I am seeing from Houston and all the way north to Dallas. Myself, I am staying here.I volunteered to stay at our switching office in Dickinson as it is built like a fortress and has a second and third floor in case the waters come up as expected. It also has a newly installed 1000kW diesel generator to keep the office up and running so at least I'll have power and a/c unless the water comes up over the thing. I plan on videotaping the action starting Friday afternoon and into the night. I promise I will not be like those idiot news reporters that feel they have to stand out in the 80-90mph winds to let the viewers know that "It's really windy here"! If it gets really bad I have already secured three cans of fluorescent orange marker paint so I can put ..."SEND BBQ!" up on the roof of the building and perhaps some news helicopter will give me some national exposure.I'll check back in from time to time from my computer in the office while the storm is going over and keep Ya'll posted on what is going on.RockyTX-CudaMinister of Information
Title: Re: Is Anyone Still Here?? Post by: TX-FlightRisk on September 22, 2005, 09:26:34 pm Rocky, You are my hero man!!!. Wish I was there. It would have to be pork BBQ to start then we would go for the beef since it lasts a bit longer.Man hang in there and I can't wait to see your vids. God bless and he be with all you East Texas brothers tonight!!!!!S~TX-FlightRisk "If my plane is smoking it can mean one thing...I have been hit in one of my ass cheeks and I am cauterizing my wound....."
Title: Re: Is Anyone Still Here?? Post by: TX-FlightRisk on September 22, 2005, 10:47:14 pm As some of you know I am a Ham radio operator and storm watcher, so with nuff said.... I have ears up everywhere and I am tracking not only on the ground with the news companies I am tracking in the air.... Accourding to the Military, "Not From My Mouth" looks like the Hurricane just curved hard right toward New Orleans.....God bless anyone in its path..S~TX-FlightRisk "If my plane is smoking it can mean one thing...I have been hit in one of my ass cheeks and I am cauterizing my wound....."
Title: Re: Is Anyone Still Here?? Post by: TX-Rahman on September 23, 2005, 04:52:25 pm Cuda, Good luck down there man!! I'd love to see the "Send BBQ!" on TV!!!Take care down there bro....and this also goes for all my TX brothers... Manford, Zen, etc. in the path of this storm.Update on Rah: I left Houston on Wednesday at around 10:45am. I had one slowdown between the Woodlands and Conroe which held me up 1.5hours. After passing Conroe on I45 I did around 70-80mph the rest of the way to Dallas. I arrived in Dallas at around 3:30pm the same afternoon. Other folks here who left a half hour after me took 8-10 hours to get here...I left just in time. My wife is stuck in Houston.... My son had been coughing so she took him to the doctor before she was to leave town...come to find out, my son has pnemonia(sp?). So....with all the traffic she could not leave Houston. Her and my son are both in our company's data center which is built like a fortress and has 3 huge diesel gens with fuel to last for a while. Plus, they're close to the Texas Medical Center which is good just in case Evan becomes more sick. She said that he seems to be doing better...they put him on antibiotics. More updates as things develop....Regards,TX-Rahman"BLACK 4"

Power is back on here at the house in League City and the cable is obviously back on. Went by the Ex's house and picked up my box and monitor and everything looks OK here at the house. Some of the pecan trees lost some small branches and the yard has what looks like a thousand not ripe pecans in the grass. I have to tell Ya'll the light show I had the other night was simply amazing what with the transformers blowing up and the power lines arcing all over town at around 3AM. We took a relatively light hit compared to my co-workers on the east side of Galveston Bay towards Beaumont snf Port Arthur. One of our main switching offices went down as the roof was peeled off and the DMS switch as well as the fiber equipment in the office was soaked. We are getting plenty of help coming in from all over Texas and should get a day off in a month or so if all goes well.TX-CudaMinister of Information
