I do have both now and i can say that they superior to Duos no doubts in my mind.. even set at a lower speed..

I'm very happy with the performances of the Q9550 E0 ... my Q9550 running at 3.4 ghz just cruising with out making a sweat at extreme low voltage with absolutely no voltage tweaked spank my E8500 4ghz. it blow my mind this on a XFX 780i or EVGA 750i FTW

FSX, IL2, RoF, ARMA2  same
( No need of a S version but a E0 version is a must )

I'm so close.....

:)

As Eco and I have discussed many times - my system performance in ROF is stellar.  I'm happy with it - there's nothing I cannot enable that I would want to enable graphically.

However, I find myself making more and more FRAPS movies - which I'm not very happy with due to stuttering here and there at high resolution.  The one thing I'd get huge benefits from I believe is in video capture.  I'd like to make "how to" movies and such.

I have Adobe Audition 3 for sound editing - and Adobe Premire for Video.  The only thing limiting me is CPU.

This Q9400 has half the cache than the Q9550 and more expensive..

Q9400=6mb and Q9550 is 12 mb
The Q9400 is a good cpu for home server or data center server but you need a Q9550 for $169.00

Read my thread in "insider".

Yes I know - Unfortunatley I'm at work with 20 people outside my office waiting to get in, and picked the wrong link :)

I was fixated on Q9650 for a long time - but then spent a lot of time looking and "gearhead" forums to see what kind of overclock folks were getting with Q9650.

Yea it all depend of many factors The quads have a magic touch with SLI's ;)
Make sure to know the maximum front side bus speed you can get with a Quad in your mobo 400 FSB~ 475/500 FSB ? That would be the main reason on the Q9550
