Ok this is old stuff  but adding to much smoothing will make you pan go smooth but laggy, laggy as respond slower..

Right. . .but what I want to see is if it changes fps. This is not something I messed with in Win 7 when I had my TrackIR issues there - it might be nothing, but I just wanted to post it to put it out there for people to experiment with. That thread seems to show nothing consistent, but who knows!
