Title: Lun Ekranoplan
Post by: TX-Chukar on May 01, 2010, 05:56:52 pm
Came across another post about the Lun Ekranoplan.   A Ground Effect Vehicle built by the Soviet Navy in the 80's.  Powered by 8 turbofan engines and housed 6 missile launch tubes on its back.

The above link contains more links below the photo which has tons of pics both inside and out.

I know this beast well.  During the Cold War, we called it the "Caspian Sea Monster" ....

WIG - Wing in Ground effect.  Ingenious and deadly.  Those should be SSN-22 "Sunburns" in the launchers up there.

Thanks for the pics, those are some of first unclassified ones I have ever seen personally, although they must have been around the web for a while.

S!
