Title: Might have to Put the Cat Down Post by: TX-Chukar on September 23, 2010, 09:21:32 pm Man I played il2 for years without a problem but the last couple of months, nothing but. Now the cougar has gone squirrely. Doesn't recognize the rudders. I have tried restarting the stick. reloaded the drivers, clearing the memory. The only thing that works is unplugging he throttle, which also causes a restart but with out a throttle. If the throttle is disconnected the the rudders first come up as the Z axis (z is normally throttle - windows axis #3). Don't know if this is normal because I have never tried it before. Reconnect the throttle and it comes back up properly as the Z-R axis (Z - Rotation windows axis #6). Tried reseting the Windows Axis button in CCP but no change.
Currently biding my time for a new stick but was hoping to keep this one just to control the rudders, but that's not looking good right now. Title: Re: Might have to Put the Cat Down Post by: TX-Gunslinger on September 24, 2010, 12:22:37 am Hey Chukar,
Try re-flashing the Cougar firmware see: http://cougar.flyfoxy.com/foxyflash.php (http://cougar.flyfoxy.com/foxyflash.php) Maybe your firmware code got messed up........ Let me know what happens.... I'm up in Rhode Island but will be flying home tommorow. S! Gunny Title: Re: Might have to Put the Cat Down Post by: TX-Chukar on September 24, 2010, 02:48:58 pm That is what I meant to say with my comment "I cleared the memory". After I cleared the firmware and verified that it went stupid I flashed it with the latest firmware...twice. I am thinking that maybe something happened when I had the handle apart to work on that shorted S3 switch.
Title: Re: Might have to Put the Cat Down Post by: TX-Gunslinger on September 25, 2010, 11:24:40 am Hi Chukar,
Last night I was in the Chicago airport with my iphone when you tried to chat with me on TUSA chat. Just wanted to let you know I tried to chat back, but the chat doesn't work with iPhone - every time I tried to type - the virtual keypad on the iPhone would go away. I didn't realize you had worked on the T3 switch. Yes, that's where I'd start. On a bright note, I think I have a spare cougar joystick handle - I need to go to storage and look. If so I could send it to you. Let me go and look today if I get a chance. OK? S! Gunny Title: Re: Might have to Put the Cat Down Post by: TX-Rahman on September 27, 2010, 10:11:38 am I also have a Cougar handle if Gunny cannot locate it. Cage gave me his Cougar way back. Throttle handle is broken... I Gorilla glued it way back and that worked for a while then came apart again. I cleaned the old pots...
Let me know if you guys need the handle, other parts, or the whole thing. :) RAH Title: Re: Might have to Put the Cat Down Post by: TX-Chukar on September 27, 2010, 11:42:17 am I don't think it has anything to do with the handle now. After I said that I went Duh, just un-screw it and see. I did and it didn't change anything. I can get buy for now by resetting the throttle each time I boot. I can always wait until I find a new Hotas and see if there is a workaround with the new software.
Thanks Title: Re: Might have to Put the Cat Down Post by: TX-Thunderbolt on September 29, 2010, 08:53:23 pm Sounds like you may have to trade the cat for a pig. A warthog is in your future. :P
Title: Re: Might have to Put the Cat Down Post by: TX-Chukar on September 30, 2010, 05:16:41 pm Family Guy Pig. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QzIokzfx8Zg#) Dam right! Title: Re: Might have to Put the Cat Down Post by: TX-Chukar on December 03, 2010, 10:58:06 pm The throttle went screwy on me the other night. Nothing less than 40% throttle is being recognized, probably a pot. On a bright note, I beat my wife home and the UPS dude carelessly left a package on our doorstep with Hotas Warthawg written on the side of it. Merry Christmas Chukar ;D

Just installing the Hawg now. It beats a stock Cougar a million miles to Sunday - however I'm not sure about U2Nxt. U2nxt action is noticeably "lighter". I think too many U2nxt users have no idea that the stupid rubber boot needs to be thrown away. Anyway - we'll see what happens very very soon. Really cool to be on the same page as you Chukar. It's sure pretty isn't it? Like a shiny new pistol S! Gunny Title: Re: Might have to Put the Cat Down Post by: TX-Gunslinger on December 04, 2010, 01:34:53 am Hey Chukar - look here:
