1st off, I'm sorry for not popping in a sniffing around more. I'm sure quite a few of you are familiar with the EAA's 1929 Ford Tri-Motor (NC8407) They flew it to MQY last week. I couldn't resist so I booked a flight for my wife (LW Majorguns) and me. I got the Co-pilots seat and our flight or ride was the last one of the day. The old guy that took us up, Took off and climbed up to 1500 ft. He asked if I flew a plane before. I told him I was going for my private rating and had racked up 10 hrs in a Da-20. He said "You will do then" lol Then I was instructed to "Grab that wheel and put yer feet on the rudder pedals" I almost passed out!! lol She was really heavy on the stick compared to the Da-20. As I sat there flying NC8407, The sound of the 3 450hp P&W R985's sounded like sweet music. I started to imagine what pilots and passengers had to go through back in the late 20's and 30's I was truly something that I will never forget. My hat is off to the great people at the EAA that have worked so hard to bring this experience to me and hundreds of thousands of others. If you ever have the chance to at least visit any of they're exhibits I urge you to do so....You wont regret it  S~

Maybe someday I'll be able to help King. The only thing I've flown so far is the Katana, I don't really want to start transitioning to other aircraft till I get the basics down lol
3  Real World Aviation / Real world aviation / 2 more hours in N223NH on: February 26, 2006, 11:15:47 am
The flight was great  Jesse (My Instuctor) briefed me on some of the stuff we were going to review and some new stuff we would be working on, We checked the weather. Cloudy, Wind NNW 12 mph, Temp 63 F, Visibility 10 miles. We preflighted N223NH (Took about 25 min.) Then we got strapped in & Fired her up. I called MQY ground to get clearance to rwy 23, got clearance, Taxied out to do the engine run-up, Then taxied to the runway. I called the tower to get clearance for take off departing to the east. (I think the climax of the flightgasims I get are when you take-off and land) We took off and rolled out to the east heading for Nashville Speedway to do my training. We worked on steep climbs, coordinated "S" turns, Decents, Climbs, Slow turns, Power off stalls and recovery and emergency procedures (basically looking for a nice spot to land in the event of a engine failure Smiley No big deal for the Da-20 because with no engine it's best glide speed is 53 mph w/ full flaps. We called MQY tower once again for clearance for 2 touch-n-goes (which were perfect I might add lol) Then we landed. Like I said It was a great flight and I'm looking forward to many more. Hello all,
Some of you may remember me from our old IL-2 days, and some of you may not...and some of you I was just chatting with last night  lol  Anyway (I stand up) My Name is Gary and I'm a a alchoholic.....Dam sorry wrong forum  hehe  I was actually browsing around your great site here and noticed that some of you are real world pilots and pilots in training Smiley I'm currently going for my private rating (may take a 1000 hours if you remember my piloting skills in IL-2 lol) Seriously, I currently have 4 hours of flight time in. The aircraft I'm training in is the Diamond Da-20 C-1. I was chatting with Eco last night on TS and he was nice enough to share some of his wisdom. (Of course I kinda felt bad for not having any wisdom of my own to share with him!)  hehe  If anyone has any questions about flying or about the Da-20 please ask Smiley  I welcome any help I can get so please dont hesitate to drop me a line...Thanks TX S~ LW_Blue-Max aka Gary
