Basically you are facing the dilemma every air force was facing during the war - except for the US Amerircan and British strategic bombing campaings.You either fly low like the Soviets did and hope not to be found by the enemies aircraft, and you are very effective against ground targets and other low flying aircraft. However, almost all enemy aircraft will come in with superior E.Or you go up like the Germans did and will do well against lower aircraft, but will only have a marginal impact on anything happening at tree top level.And, of course, what if you fly at 1000 meters to intercept all ground pounders, but suddenly escorts show up at 2k? Defense is just one big mess.
