Ugh! Bad news indeed. If you need any assistance, I rent a quarter rack in a data center, and may be able to help with your search, in terms of pricing and expectations. I also have a spare 1U server box if your interested. I doubt it will get any use from me as I have moved to 2U's. I would like to give fair warning on the 1U... unless you go with a pentium chip, you may be in trouble. The Athalon chips run much hotter, and even though a 1U heat-sink/fan says it works for Athalon XP chip's, well it doesn't. I have 3 fried chips to prove it. I do have one 1U box in the data center which is a Pentium 1ghz that I use for the web server and app host (TeamSpeak etc.). You can probably go faster (hotter) with a Pentium and be ok though... and with enough ram it would probably fix a lack in desired processor speed. And, it would be much less expensive.Anyway, I wish you luck, and let me know if I can help,GR142-Sammie

IL2 Community / IL2 Troubleshooting & Tweaking / Re: GV Issues Post Here

This won't necessarily help GV issues directly, but you might look into TeamSpeak if the issues become too frustrating (or costly to resolve). It sets up similar to GV, with a dedicated server, and works with the GV hardware. It has a lot more functionality, and organization options than GV, and our squad has not had any issues with its use. Rather than listing all the features, just let me know if this becomes a possibility, and I will take anyone interested for a tour of the program as we use it in GR142.Good luck,GR142-Sammie

Not sure if this will be helpful, but Thrustmaster sent me replacement pots and I have my defective pot collecting dust. I can take it to an electronics store and have them check the pinouts. I think this is a great idea, and the hard part imo is finding the right pot pinouts, and then the right shape etc. I found a site that has more pots than I would ever want to see, and I think it's the same place Cub order his pots.Regarding the tension, I like the high spring action. However, I am sure there is wear and tear involved, as there is with the x-y axis system (forgot the 'name' they use to refer to it). Might be a good idea to look into a way to protect the areas of that which rub and cause degredation.Anyway, I am interested in helping if you accept non-tx'ers into the effort :)Cheers,GR142-Sammie

Hey, I agree that no cockpit is a great server setting. It makes aircraft selection, and its use, a much bigger factor. And, yeah it adds more realism. Anyway, good choice! Hope to see ya in the skies soon...GR142-Sammie

While this is not an immediate fix, I am developing a php/sql/whateverelseineedtouse stats program with Jambock__26 that will real-time send stats from the server to a web page. This is still in very early stages, but the groundwork is already laid so development will hopefully move along a a decent pace. Of course I will be sharing this with the Tx squad and anyone else running a dedicated server.

S! Tx, just popping in to say hey. Congrats on getting the server up to FB. It's amazing, and the transition was a piece of cake at our servers. Looking forward to seeing what maps you guys create. Always some good ones on your server! Regarding the Latest News post on your site about creating maps. I have found that placing one static aircraft from the appropriate side for the color (i.e. FW190 at Blue base) will eliminate a base turning neutral in DF maps. Just something to consider when designing maps. I have created a few basic maps from the new FB selections. LOTS of petential there now Cya in the not-so-friendly skies GR142-Sammie

I think I can help you here. I have an ASUS board (A7V8X) and the same vid card. After some research at guru3d.com and amdmb.com, I found out that some ASUS boards have a voltage issue with the 9700. The fix, go into BIOS and make your AGP voltage 1.7 or 1.8 (try 1.7 first). That should clear up the issue.Best of luck!Sammie
