The Discovery Travel TV crew that we worked with at the California International Airshow at Salinas has announced it's airdate for the show:

"Awesome Airshows" Thursday October 21st at 10:00 AM (ET)

Not very convenient time. . .but anyway, there should be in-cockpit footage of Wayne's flights at Salinas, and also footage of some of the grounds ops required to put on a show. . .and perhaps a few glimpses of an EmuDragon.

Just a heads up for those with the Travel Channel.

It was a nice show! There was  a lot of interesting info about the pilots and performers and people who set up and coordinate the show.  I would of course have liked more raw footage from the on-board camera and such. . . I am glad there were only glimpses of me, afterall the emu likes it's head in the sand! It was fun to revisit the Show, it was great fun! They had a good view of the ribbon cut, and it really shows the speed Wayne used for the cut, I am actually only half way through the video. . . the T-Birds footage is pretty cool, they had some cool cockpit shots!S!TX-EcoDragonBlack 1TX-Squadron XO

Aww man...sorry I missed it!  Hope they play it again sometime.  So when you coming back out?The Salinas folks decided to put me on the Marketing committee for the 2004 show...talk about exhausting!  Guess I did a good enough job for them to ask me back in 2005.  We have an awesome show lined up for our 25th Anniversary.  I'm sure Wayne will be there...not flying unfortunately, but who cares so long as he's there!  Such a cool guy.Anyway, gimme a yak next time you're at Metz!  And thanks for the heads up on the show...hope to catch it when it airs again sometime!Tysonhttp://www.tvrphotography.com

Hey! Well congratulations Tyson, that is pretty cool news! I will do my best to get down there the next time around. I didn't make it out to CIAS this year, was up to my ears in academics. Now I am just waiting on the weather to get better then it will be competition season 05 and time to get some critiquing going on! Right now it's just drizzle drizzle and more drizzle. The show was cool. . . not enough acro for me, but overall a good picture of what it takes to run an airshow, as well as a little glimpse into the lives of people who perform in them. Wayne also provided them with a bit of his old dusting footage and such for the program's description of the Salinas Valley and its connections to agricultural aviation. I am trying to get my hands on a DSLR before the show season starts up, I love the Canon digi elph but need something with a focus ring and some pulling power! I never really seem to use my film bodies anymore without my darkroom. Oh and have you taken a look at the 20D? Looks pretty similar to the 10 but a bit lighter, faster, and with a larger buffer. . . it might be perfect for someone shooting subjects such as yours! S!TX-EcoDragonBlack 1TX-Squadron XO
