N.28

"B. Climb
During full power operation, right rudder is required to keep the slip ball [an airspeed indicator was fitted to the forward port interplane strut] central at 55-60mph. With a forward C of G, there is still a tendency for pitch up." The Nieuport 28 America's First Fighter T. Hamaday pg 189

"C. Cruise
The aircraft can be flown on two ignition settings for fruise. Setting of 3 gives 85-90 mph, and a setting of 4 gives top speed [of] 120 mph. STRAIGHT AND LEVEL [S/L]: There is no elevator trim fitted and approximately 5 lbs. push is required for S/L on setting 4. With application of power, there is a nose up tendency, this being more marked with an aft C of G.
. . .
Turns to the left are much faster than than to the right due to the torque effect of the engine. (I presume he means the rolling portion is faster, a right turn should actually be tighter). Sideslip angles of up to 30 degrees were made to the left and right and were controllable. . ."
