Here's the best comparison I know from ROF:
Game settings = High on everything 1920 X 1200
Cards 16X AA 16X AF - Multisampling Texture filtering - Texture Quality to High Quality
GTX 280
Effects Off - Multisampling Texture Filtering ON - High Quality - 16X16
Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
7330, 179128, 26, 56, 40.920
5870
Wide Tent 8X = 16X AA - Catalyst AI Disabled
Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
8449, 179109, 28, 76, 47.172
So, at the same settings the 5870 performs a bit better. The supersampling AA mode for the ATI is hands down much better than the supersampling mode for Nvidea - but so for only on ROF. The supersampling mode absolutely and completly stops shimmering for ATI.
With that said - I have not found a supersampling configuration that I would want to use online .
Tonight - Plan to test briefly in 3D mark 06 (or whatever Gozr says).... and then on to Il2

Yes, you can erase your XP with W7 clean install. Ubuntu is Linux, but doesn't matter.. ( this is an headake factory ) |

UBUNTU is very cool for non gaming.
I have it on a few machines, just playing around with it.
It's completely open source, grass roots in ya face Bill sort of thing.

Went to the trouble this morning to 3Dmk06 XP side.
21545 3D Marks
8439 SM 2.0
10162 SM 3.0
6086 CPU score
Not much higher. Also, does it matter that I'm running the demo/non registered version of 3Dmk06?
Only let's me test 1280 X 1024...... These newer cards are stronger at higher resolutions aren't they?

Yeas everyone is using the same, demo is fine, balance between CPU and GPU.
