I've spent a few hours the last few weeks flying on "The Syndicate" Rise of Flight Server.  This is where I fly, because:

1. Best missions - I find very well thought out missions, many with AI Recon flights and mostly historical plane sets.  Even when the server population is low, you have something to shoot at.

2. Well behaved pilots (my experience)

3. Great connection speeds and bandwidth.  I've noticed no network related performance hits.

TB turned me on to this server.  Most of the veteran community flies there.  They use Ventrillo (I don't know why - but hey, it's a free program anyway).

Their forum page is here:
http://paddyjed.proboards.com/index.cgi

Ventrillo connect info (and download) is at the bottom left of the homepage.

This is THE PLACE to be for full-real ROF, adult flying.

Many pages are dedicated to this server .. to bad I did give up on even flying it..
..no fix no play for me.. and knowing how the heads of this game are and how they do not keep their say and promises it just killed it for me..
I'm glad to see this kind of server that take care of some of the more of the simmers. I wish it would be like in Flaming Cliff 2 that you can setup everything the client see .. Lock the views as the server admin wishes..

I agree that I wish all server side simulations gave the server admin control over all things.  For prop simmers, there are only two sims right now - ROF and Il2.

There are many who have invested in ROF and now is not a bad time to try it out.  SOW will be out sometime in the future

Someone looking for a high fidelity FM for props, where there are other people to participate with are not going to find anything other than ROF.

After having a few weeks not having to worry about ROF development or beta, I find it's a great sim for me.  Yes it has it's flaws, but not so many that I can't enjoy it and find it competitive.

I know that TB feels the same way, and others too.

For me, it's about flying.  That's what I'm here for.  That's what I have fun doing.  And I intend to have a lot more.

Yeap..  but there is to me an other sim that i do enjoy is FC2 with a very simulator oriented crowd  .. Mostly when now BS and FC2 are mixed.. but in reality they are all fun and good on their own perspectives.. and this is what is fun as well. But having to just fly i do agree it's fun, time will ill the RoF problem to me.. but SoW will be out and A10 etc.. soon as well.. but i have my teeth locked into Korea addon for SoW Wink...

But it's even more interesting is flying with friends first .. to me it is very important and we do all have the same visions...

Agree 1000%  Grin

That Korea add-on will probably be the best sim ever made.  Perfect time in history at the confluence of Props and Jets, "when men were men and horses were scared".

Imagine the maps and terrain over North Korea......  that's what I think about...

Agreed with all.

I still fly RoF sporadically. Nothing really against it, though I have my own issues with some individuals and some basic things in the sim. It's still pretty good and fun for what it is. Right now, the ONLY rof server I fly is SYNDICATE for all the above mentioned reasons. I too have installed ventrilo just for this one server. Not too sure I like using it as I just don't get why there was a migration to it for this crowd, but oh well, as already stated, it's free.

Well, it's Friday.  Woke to ROF 1.015 - two new aircraft, one was a gift.  These two, the Tripe and Pup were what I've needed for a Vimy Ridge map (april 1917) to give Entente a fair shake over the trenches......

I've been continuing to fly the Syndicate when it's populated, and it is most of the time.  There has been more traffic on the J99 "lake server".  Furball city, there.  I'm glad the Allies are getting the new Tripe, maybe it will cause more pilots to fly Allied.  I'm always balancing teams, so flying Allied mostly - Dolphins, Spads.

Also nice to see the stats reset over at Ghostskies....  helluva Air Sim weekend shaping up...
