Server Settings

X,Thanks very much for posting your thoughts here, you have been a great addition to the TX server and your input is appreciated. It is players like you with good attitudes and good sportsmanship that make the OC3 what it is.Tough question on superman view on or off. While TX does not want to be labelled as a permenant FR server, neither do we want to be the easiest place to fly at. With the improvements in FB, it felt to me like a more natural thing to enjoy the immersion effect of flying in cockpit, at least for a while to get used to the differences in the new planes. The primary factor is the bombers. As you know we love the combined arms mission with bomber and fighter escort...map icons on and superman view make it extremely difficult for the aspiring bomber pilots to make it to the enemy undetected. With all the new bombers added, enthusiasm for flying them has gone up quite a bit...stuka's, TB3's HE111's etc are becoming quite popular. This leads to people trying mass bomber attacks, which leads to requests for fighter cover, which in turn tends to have people flying CAP to protect against them and doing fighter sweeps to hunt them down. A whole series of interesting twists on gameplay happen with the introduction of bombers, but all that is made more difficult the easier it is for the fighters to locate them. As always we try and strike a good balance on what our regulars want. Good players like you do carry weight in our decisions and I am quite happy that you took the time to post your opinion. I can't honestly say at this point if superman view will be switched back on in the near future. I'd say at least for the short term it will stay off while the community comes up to speed with FB. One of the things we discussed internally about server settings was changing the settings on a regular basis - some weeks going FR+Icons, some weeks superman view and even an unlimited ammo mayhem night for funs sake.
