OK ITS NOT THE COOLEST, and takes away a slight bit of the keyboard, but hey. it works.i went to frys lookin for the  saitek GAMING KEYBOARD, but they were out, so i happen to spy this http://www.targus.com/us/product_details.asp?sku=PAUK10Unow its not perfect, but you want to have 19 keys available, near your throttle, this was the best solution i could QUICKLY acheive, and not be too spensive. just plug it in, and its basically the numpad section on your keyboard . so you wont have any NEW assignments  extra, but at least you can place this nearby without the bulk of the keyboard...mine is taped up to the flat surface on the X-45 throttle. fits in there perfectly.0-50% throttle, its close enuff for my thumb to hit the keys, without  a problem, anything above 50 percent (to far away from thumb) and ill take hand of throttle, and manually finger peck them in.EDIT: if you guys are familiar with this stuff... how hard would it be to convert this to a recognisable "gamepad/controller" for the computer to know it is  19 key pad, for games, and not just an extension of numpad on keyboard?

sweeeet.. i didnt even see the backlighing part Smiley thanks for posting it.i was curious, on the X-KEYS (the "joystick"/most expensive model) im ondering if you can assign the joystick itself to either the  heat/night vision cameras , or other objects in LO-MAC. me thinks itd be nice to have to aqcuire mud moving targets at night, slewing the ordinance/ camera around Tongue

hey guys, im about to get SAITEKS GAMING KEYBOARD, ya know the one with the "COMMAND PAD" 9 key-18 function accessory.

anyways, i read about X-KEYS a while back in PC PILOT or summat like that. saw a few cockpits in the article set up with it (mostly F-16 variants) and it looks really good. what i like is that the keys have overlays so that you can print out the actual function you want, and slip it between the key and the overlay.

can see many  purposes for that in LO-MAC/ PF/ MSFS2004

although a little on the high side for an " expensive keyboard thats just a different shape!!" as my girfriend calls it

im looking at the "proffesional" with 58 keys Smiley

also, if you go to the main site, they have train simulator controls too if thats your cup of tea.

I GOT IT. I LOVE IT!it takes a while longer to set-up than the older versions, wel cuz, your ading in 6 new axi..axisis..axis's...uh 6 degrees of freeedom.first off i would HIGHLY suggest that once you haver the software open, turn off all axis movements except for the traditional TRACK-IR movements (up/down, and left/right.  get those down to the sensitivities you liked previously, then open up a new AX one at a time, and build up from there.NOTE: (1) some axis like the ROLL, are not all the same, the lower the settings, the wierder the axis itself became. ROLL axis seems to want to be placed as a LINEAR profile, and RAISED to the very top of screen, (how i have mine)NOTE: (2) it gets confusing at first when you do all the pitching/ yawing /rolling action. this is because the input of VECTOR. youll have to train yourself how the program works. each movement is defined by that perticular axis.. and WILL NOT change... confused??  ill explainZOOM: > ALWAYS the "forward/backward" motion of the head itself, not the DIRECTION of head being pointed. EX: you want to look out of the pilots left window, and look at undercarriage.       (REAL-LIFE) >turn head left                         >lean left                         >look down      ( VECTOR)  >turn head left (viewpoint control)                       >lean RELATIVE FORWARD (creates ZOOM function)                       >shift body to left ( actual placement of body )                       >look downits not much, but at first you get a little overwhelmed at the body language inputs you have to do.not that im complaining at all, eventually im sure there will be a true head tracker so that FORWARD is always in relation to the direction the head being pointed.cockpits: i never knew how much of a cockpit is NOT modeled! take the cessna  for example. when you track-ir yourself aroun in there, it looks WHOLE. if you look towards the back, and shift. the entire thing is almost gone!  (not something you want with the real thing) again, no complaints, just an observation, at how much REALLY can be lacking because there was no need to model.  interesting. im new with this..so please forgive if pics are monstrous!![img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/GAU-8/wheresmyplane.jpg">[img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/GAU-8/otw.jpg">[img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/GAU-8/backseatnormal.jpg">[img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/GAU-8/veryscaredunderseat.jpg">[img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/GAU-8/nomotorbaddream.jpg">

what is the total width when assembled of yours?4 ft or under? if so, that will be perfect. since i am tight on square footage space, but VERY HIGH ceilings (20+ft).... i am going to be the first to "climb to the pit". i have a homebuilt loft bed w/ no matress that im not using, thats between 5 and 6 feet high,  im moving this out to the living room, above my VERY LARGE drafting table. (staceys computer area).. by putting the cockpit on the lofted surface, im saving a ton of space, and can now clear the smaller drafting table (currently what i use for simming)..and convert that to my plastic modelling desk.i have plans on converting the loft bed to have fully enclosed walls with dynamat or similar soundproofing, and have a "hatch" for access. my larger scale fresnel lens is on its way, not the same as a MAN-CAVE... maybe  ill call it "TESTOSTERO-BOX"
