To those who wish to learn to use their GA type Flight Sims in a more realistic fashion, including realistic aircraft start, shutdown, pre-flight, instrument interpretation, and flight procedures use this thread to post your request and please give the day and time that you would like to meet up on coms. I know a few of you have expressed an interest in this, so let's do it!

EDIT: I have created a TX General Aviation Flight Sim Ground School thread that contains materials and info pertaining to the ground school type materials.

For those who don't yet have sectional charts of their own here is an excerpt of the San Francisco VFR Sectional. Though you can and should pick up a sectional for ~$8.00 at a flight school, or get an expired sectional perhaps for free if you find a facility that is willing to hold some for you and give them out. In any case, for our sim ground school and sim primary flight training we will fly in the San Francisco Bay Area and will start out using this panel. Members who wish to attend must download this for reference, and print it out if you can.  I can make no claims about how the legibility will be once these are printed though. There are two versions of the map, one is a single large one for display on your computer (or for printing by those with larger printers with banner capability) the second is a two part East and West set which contains the same map cut into two sections suitable for conventional printing. To get these you will have to copy and paste, you CAN NOT simply click the links from hereFor those who wish to print them download the two that are named "SFO Sectional W excerpt" and the "SFO Sectional E excerpt"For those who will only view these on your PC, or who have access to a large format printer then go ahead and get the "SFO Sectional excerpt" Album is here:http://community.webshots.com/album/198737778EoQFfGS!TX-EcoDragonBlack 1TX-Squadron XO

I'm open for now until the New Year. . . schedule while the scheduling is good  ;-)As far as sims go, much of what this will entail can be done simply using voice coms. . . though online in the same "room" would certainly be the best.  I have the last 10 years of  Microsoft sims, and the recent X-Plane releases (not 8 though), for FS2004 online the only thing to do is get the Update from the URL posted in this thread:http://www.txsquadron.com/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=&TOPIC_ID=1838I also suggest getting your primary training aircraft from this site:for FS2002: http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=&Name=&FileName=realair172sp.zip&Author=&CatID=Rootfor FS2004: http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=&Name=&FileName=ras172_fs9.zip&Author=&CatID=RootS!TX-EcoDragonBlack 1TX-Squadron XO
