I agree with skinny. It also seems that at an actual combat altitude that if the opposition fly at tree level there is no way to see them from even 3 K on that particular map. And in the sim, we don't have ground based recon, or any ground based radio. I never saw a single con from 3K of altitude (less than half the usual), this suggests that deckfighting is needed, which is not what we (or any "blue" type squads) would normally do. This slants the victory objectives in the favor of one type of flying style.S!TX-EcoDragonBlack 1TX-Squadron XO

Basically you are facing the dilemma every air force was facing during the war - except for the US Amerircan and British strategic bombing campaings. You either fly low like the Soviets did and hope not to be found by the enemies aircraft, and you are very effective against ground targets and other low flying aircraft. However, almost all enemy aircraft will come in with superior E.Or you go up like the Germans did and will do well against lower aircraft, but will only have a marginal impact on anything happening at tree top level. And, of course, what if you fly at 1000 meters to intercept all ground pounders, but suddenly escorts show up at 2k? Defense is just one big mess. Wink

Yes, only differences are: in the real world I can see planes below me from 9000 feet, it doesn't take 5 minutes from wheels up to the enemy installation, and there is no recon/comminucation/coordination that can be done when these things aren't in place save for aerial recon, which in the current version of the game, has loopholes. As you said though, some practice on that particular map and scenario (and planeset) would have demonstrated most of those issues pretty clearly. S!TX-EcoDragonBlack 1TX-Squadron XO

One solution is to get very good in max zoomed views ( more like reality view size ) Special Button on joystic is requier for optimum usability. More i fly better are my settings and an endless tweaking. Same when you doing a motorcycle or car race on a new tarck. at first the lap are slower even if you think you did good after some time and many laps you will find your way for optimum trajectories, braking and speeds, you'll go much much faster and smoother.. same thing when your train and train ..-GOZR

"Have you ever tried it ? A camouflaged plane ? I have a hard time spotting 25m span gliders with bright white wings and fluo orange decals from half that altitude.."Yes, practically daily. Over a cityscape it can be tough, over countryside as we have in the sim it's far less challenging, still a challenge, but a challenge that I for one can meet. The greatest challenge I find is spotting aircraft at the level of the horizon or co-alt. . .those on the deck usually present a lesser difficulty. In the sim I feel it is reversed, this changes from patch to patch however. In any case, the best tactic is the one that works against your adversary . . . and you guys nailed it. . .
