MIG-15 Crashes in Little Rock..

Saw the picture of the crash site in the Houston Chronicle that said the MIG-15 that crashed in Little Rock,Ark. was the last flyable in the US per the pilot who was from Spring Texas...just north of Houston. If I am not mistaken this is the MIG that was hangared at Ellington Field just south of Houston. Those of you that made the TX meet at the Wings Over Houston airshow last year might have seen her as she was on display. I had lunch several times with the pilot of that aircraft at GillHooleys in Bacliff and remember him telling me how tricky the brake system was on that aircraft. Ran off of compressed air fed from a tank that was filled before flight. If you ran out of air...you ran out of brakes!!..Let's hope this aircraft is not a total loss....

Lets hope this pilot is not a total loss. Seems like the braking system would be updated and possibly mandated by the FAA.. Hmmm .....S~TX-FlightRisk Black 3

I havent heard about this yet, which is odd, but I can confirm that the brakes are driven by a pneumatic air pump system, though this is recharged by the engine provided that it is running. If the aircraft loses engine power it has only a very short amount of time to come to a stop before the brakes are no longer effective.Aviation has taken some hits these past few weeks, I hope to hear that the plane and pilot will once again take flight.I will post an update on my SoCal excursion when I know more about whats going on.All the best TX'ersS!TX-EcoDragonBlack 1TX Squadron XO
