Gentlemen,

I'd like to make a suggestion to try out some of the Full Real servers out there on HL.

Emu and I flew on a couple different ones last night including GreaterGreen and had a rousing good time on them. The best in my opinion was MOH who had friendly icons on (Name only though..just short distance, no range or plane type listed) and enemy icons off. They chose a winter map which for me eliminated the annoying problem of never seeing the enemy or chasing tracers all day.

I have to say that at least for me, I felt good in the cockpit with no externals...the pace of the fights were slower and you had more control over evading a bandit.  A few well timed moves and typically you'd be clear.

I must also emphasize the role that team work played last night. We were a 2 ship formation and had excellent coordination. On every server we appeared on we pretty much owned everyone...great fun.

I say take a minute to look around for a full real servers either with or without icons on. The experience is challenging in many ways but not markedly different from flying on our server in cockpit and is definately worth trying out.

Later tonight I'll be online in HL after work and will most likely be in one of those servers, hopefully MOH's again. I'd like to invite the squad out to enjoy an interesting change of pace.

Salute

I had fun playing full real with Emu a few times. I think the locked cockpit makes for more radio contact and keeps the game interesting. The only problem in flying full real is the slight warping that happens on every server. If you are zoomed in for a shot, and the bandit makes the least bit of warp he is gone from your view, you have to zoom out and reaquire the target. Padlock solves this problem. You padlock the target and even if he warps you still have an eye on him. Aside from the absence of padlock, I enjoy every aspect of full real. My ideal game is full real with the exception of padlock. I don't think WW planes had warp drives so padlock makes it more realistic.TX-KingsnakeWhite >+

You don't shoot while zoomed in? Holy mackeral batman, you're a better shot than I thought.I find it impossible to shoot without it in many ways but I don't think it changes your actual lead...only your apparent. By using the vertical bars on the reticle I think you instinctively compensate for the difference in sight picture. Sometimes I wish I could get the hang of padlock, I hear so often how useful it is but for me I still don't use it even after 18 months. It's just too disorienting for me and I'm alright with the hat switch, though I know it costs me kills on a regular basis. I can't seem to get over that feeling of lack of control when padlock is moving the view around.TX-ZenBlack 6

Since this is not in your Squad only forums - I am assuming we can respond as well - I also played on a full real last night - this was all out full real - nothing - you got a map and that was it - no icon's or labels - this would be hard to play if you didn't lock the planes so that you would not have bf's flying formation with a yak - I had to stop and really look at the bogey before i made a decision to break and attack.  I agree that this makes for some slower paced more accurate games and teamwork is the only way you can survive in a world like that.I'll be on tonight sometime - I'll look for you guys in HL - if you don;t mind me tagging along side - I like to stay back and cover anyway!See ya in the skies TX!  S~

I NEVER use the gunsight when I'm flying closed cockpit, and always put the view as far back as possible. That way, I can see my tracer fire and compensate for drop and deflection. One interesting fact was that Francis Gabreski sometimes asked for tracer rounds to be omited in his mix of ammo. So as not to give his position away to the enemy, until it was to late. If we start flying closed cockpit, I'm investing in track IR 2.0

I too am a fan of full gunsight view, and generally don't zoom in unless in a head-on situation.Talk to Rahman about the track IR if you want a review.TX-Deck out.

Well, i used to vote for externals on.. just so i could take a break every once and a while and watch the battle... but the more i play with externals off, the more i like it. No more diving down in my A8 to bounce some yak and he ganks the stick and messes my perfect shot, because he saw me coming in externals. As to aiming, somtimes i use normal veiw, sometimes the zoomed, but i just use dead reckoning for my leading, and it usually works. i like to pride my self on my aiming, although it isnt that good, its alot better than the spray and pray some people use. Remember- You always have to lead them 2x more than you think you should- i have livedbby that and it has served me well. Also, i too am looking into trackIr. it's really expensive for me, but when i save up enough i'm going to get it, because if i buy it from natural point, i can always send it back within 30 days.
