I second that. Salute to the men and women who have served this country and other countries who have been willing to risk their lives to protect what they believe in. Take a minute to thank those that serve so that everyone else doesn't have to. TX-ZenBlack 6

"Take a minute to thank those that serve so that everyone else doesn't have to."The most PERFECT line i have ever read.I'm going to use that the next time I get into a heated discussion with some kid about how they would NEVER join the Military and if they were forced to they would go to Canada.~S~BKFlame Broiled - Just The Way You Like Em'

I third that sentiment BK and Zen.....and after hearing my father talk about Korea before he passed away 5 yrs ago...I have the utmost respect and admiration for the Armed Forces of these USA past and present..cause that shat aint eazy not one damn bit...its a hard pill to swallow when you give your life and limb for your country and beliefs....I personally dont have the balls or conviction to do either until im damned well forced to lol S~ and my humble homage to all vets worldwide....Peace and gunoilgrease... over and out TX-Razor

I only wish now that I had joined the airforce when I was a younger lad....  Little did I know that I would be into aviation this much at this point in my life.  Music was my life up until 4 or so years ago.  Have always loved aviation but in the past 3 years I have come to regret not joining the military to be a pilot...  Sitting here on the 42nd floor of our building in downtown Houston...  We just had some sort of highspeed jet flyby... for veterans day I guess... No one saw it but I can bet it was an F16 or something comparable...here and gone before you know it!!  No one saw it and everyone was still excited... hehe...Salute to everyone who has served in the military....Regards,TX-Rahman"BLUE 2"

My Grandfather Served in WW2 and was ordered to the Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge) When the Germans were trying to break through. He was wounded and stuck there until the Patton Tank break through. Due to his wound he lost his leg later. He never seemed to care and always kept his few German trophies. A blood stained German Swazi flag, an officers Luger and the medals he was awarded. He passed in 1977.Secondly....and actually more first with me. My father started his Army career in 1965. Shipped out to Korea... Operated heavy equipment as a Spec 6. He never told me until a few months ago that he was in Vietnam in 1967-68 stationed with an engineering Battalion and ended up having to shoot most of the time and not build. He showed me pictures that he kept to himself for many years. I am 36 years old and until a few months ago I always thought he was in Korea and just did not get sent.I have spent ¾ of my life here 20 miles from Fort Knox and have had quite a few Tanker friends. I must say hats off. These guys are our heart and soul!!!!!!!Cheers to all Veterans!!!!!!!!!!!!S~TX-FlightRisk Black 3

CheersMy Grandfather was a WWII Flight Instructor in PT-17s at Thunderbird Field, and apparently also saw combat, but he didn't talk to anyone about it, so there is little more detail I can add.S!TX-EcoDragonBlack 1TX Squadron XO

S~ to my grandfather who piloted C-47's in the South Pacific, and S~ to my step-grandfather who was a combat engineer on the beaches of Normandy.   My hat goes off to both of them, as well as the millions of others who have served in the armed forces to keep our country free.TX-Deck out.
