Just wanted to give a quick heads up to the other members that might want to get their bombsights set up for the HE-111. I was negligent in getting mine re-set since I had to load FB again and Saturday night was fortunate enough to fly with TX-Kingsnake on the OC3 server. He was quick to talk me thru the keyboard and I was dropping on target in no time at all. If I may suggest that if anyone is interested in getting the bombsight set up in a uniform manner we might plan on meeting on a predetermined night/time and having all the pilots that want to set up the bombsights...and make a few practice runs...like we used to do on training night with the fighter tactics. With the bombers having the sights set up already it should be no problem having a three or more bomber flight...with TX-Zen and others as fighter cover...raining screaming death upon the hapless RED airbases and pushing back the front lines as they so deservedly need to be!

It may be a good idea to bind the same keys so we are all on the same page. I'll post my key settings later.TX-KingsnakeWhite >+

controls the sight up and down, put the cross hairs just a hair under the target B NumPad-=SIGHT_DIST_MINUSB NumPad+=SIGHT_DIST_PLUSlook up your true airspeed with the speed on your speedbar or speed dialB NumPad-9=SIGHT_SPD_PLUSB NumPad-3=SIGHT_SPD_MINUSenter your altitudeB NumPad-1=SIGHT_ALT_MINUSB NumPad-7=SIGHT_ALT_PLUSi'm not sure about this one, i try to line up directly on targetB NumPad-6=SIGHT_SIDE_LEFTB NumPad-4=SIGHT_SIDE_RIGHTB control  automated bomb sight Also map keys for mixture, level stabilizer, super charger, and elevator trim (preferably on a slider). How to.Takeoff with mixture 120% supercharger1 & takeoff flaps. At 1000 meters cut mixture to 100%, power to 90% radiator closed and engage level stabilizer. Set elevator trim so that you are climbing at a rate of 5 on the instrument to the right of the horizon. This will take you 3 or 4 map squares to climb to 3000 meters. At 3000 meters switch to supercharger 2, adjust flaps, elevator trim and power for level flight at 250kmh. Adjust bombsight altitude to 3000 and enter your true airspeed (at 250 kmh your true airspeed is 300kmh). Switch to the bombadier and hit shiftF1. Adjust bombsight distance up and down to try to put your cross hair over target. Use rudder and opposite aieleron to line the cross hairs over target, carefull or your bombsight will turn off while you adjust. Check your speed and altitude in the bombsight. once you are certain you are on target engage the bombsight automation. The bombsight will adjust to keep the cross hairs over target and releases the bombs automatically. If you notice the bombsight is not on target you can recalibrate the altitude and speed and engage the sight again. If you don't give the sight enough time to automate it will not automatically release the bombs.  TX-KingsnakeWhite >+

If anyone is interested, if you crank the prop pitch to 85%, the He-111 will easily step up over 300kmh in level flight.    (FYI, for what it is worth)TX-Deck out.

Was just browsing GreaterGreen....This looks interesting!!  An application to autocalculate your bombsite settings...Read here:http://209.209.44.31/scripts/ikonboard/ikonboard.pl?s=7cb9664184c7b0456d591564729bf3c3;act=ST;f=27;t=4075Regards,TX-Rahman"BLUE 2"

bombblast wrote" how do i aim the dang thing"map keys for increase and decrease bombsight distance, this is the angle relative to the horizon that you are sighting to target. think TRIANGLEpoint 1 your aircraftpoint 2 targetpoint 3 target sightthe bombsight automation decreses the angle towards zero then releases the bombs.TX-KingsnakeWhite >+

And you must keep the angle of bank to less than . . . I think it was 4 degrees each way, or the crosshairs will be disabled. It is tough to line up on the target in a manner in which the level stabilizer is going to aim you at it, so remember to start WAY out from your target with the bombsight periscope angled forward giving you time to stabilize on teh target, making SMALL changes to heading to get lined up, let your speed and altitude stabilize, and if all the above has been done the target should be behding the vertical line of the crosshair. . wait for it to track to just above teh cross hair, and then engage bombsight automation. the perfect speed and alt conversions aren't needed for large targets, but they sure are for small ones. Practice is a wise idea.S!TX-EcoDragonBlack 1TX Squadron XO

Rgr that Eco, you have to get set up a pretty good ways out in order for the bombsight to stay on target. If you bank much at all to re-align on target using the bombsight I find that the sight drops off and you have to level off for it to re-appear. I set the sight at nearly horizontal a good ways out...set the video options to perfect and look thru the haze until my eyes are bleeding to get an early target aquisition..then make minor adjustments. It's best to zoom in as close as possible on the map view to ensure that you are lined up as close as possible before you go to the bomber sight . I also set up the sight PRIOR to takeoff so that I can concentrate on flying to target and not have to switch views close in to the target.Carpal Tunnel in my trigger finger....Rocky...TX-CUDA on UBITX-CUDA on HyperLobby
