Almost every  review site is claiming that for the jump from 128 to 256 it is NOT WORTH THE MONEY and no games use 256 yet....or even remotely in the future.'course I read all this AFTER I got a 256 card........figures....Note: the LX is basically the " Lite " version..uses 2.8ns memory vice standard 2.2ns. This card is NOT for overclocking. Hint : for less than $6.00 more you can get a BFG 128 FX5900 with LIFETIME WARRANTY at www.compuhq.com~S~BKFlame Broiled - Just The Way You Like Em'

That may be true about the 128 Mb cards, I read somewhere that UT uses 128 mb worth just to load, and play the game. So wouldn't a 256Mb card make sense?? The reason I'm asking is that i'm going to replace my GF4 soon.TX-BomblastRed2

I'm in the same boat Bomblast.... why splurge on a 128 when 256 requirements are just around the corner?    Seems to me that a 256 would be about double the cost, but that would be the same as a 128 card now, plus a 256 card later on next year.TX-Deck out.

From everything I have been reading..and as a regular subscriber to futermark.com flame wars..I mean..posts.....Nothing within the next TWO YEARS will even REMOTELY require a 256 MB card.... I even read this on a Half Life site....comming from Valve.I payed the extra 200 bucks for a 256 MB card 'cause I was suckered into all the Hype surrounding these cards. Turns out that MOST of the 256 MB versions of cards are SLOWER than the 128 MB versions. Not by much mind you BUT they ARE still slower. It's only money..if ya got it..then spend it.I see buying a 256 MB card the same as going into McDonalds and buying a Supersized drink when the refills are free......But then again.. I can be a cheap bastard.........And IF these magical games come out in a year or a year and a half then ebay the card you already bought ( You can sell ANYTHING on ebay )( saw a ti-4600 used sell for $199 ( MINE !!! ) and take the difference amount that you saved and is in savings and with the interest and the sell of the 128 MB card..your 256 will be just about paid for. And also in a year or a year and a half the new VC's will be 384 or 500 MB ..watch....~S~BKFlame Broiled - Just The Way You Like Em'

The 256mb card is $375. And that's the cheapest I've seen it. If you want to spend $400+, I'd wait until the next versions come out. Or, go for the ATI 9800XT for a cool half a grand.I think I'm gonna wait on a new card until I upgrade my pc. It doesn't make much sense to put that into my 1.2g comcrap. I've been adding the numbers and found I can swing an AMD64 setup for about $1200 if I scavenge the drives from my compaq. It's just sooo tempting. The bug is itching me bad. Too bad that's about a thousand more than I got. Hmmm, /me double checks his line of credit for the 38th time.
