I suspect that I'm going to pass on this one simply due to the 67,000 key binds to control the jets. Perhaps I'm old fashioned but I don't think my walnet sized brain can handle that much information. What are the first impressions of it so far, especially FPS for Nvidia users?TX-ZenBlack 6

After initial testing and some formation flying with ECO....  I can report that the FPS are not as bad as I thought they would be...  I'm getting like 32-47 ave frames per sec...   I did bump a few things down before I even flew the game....  My cackpit reflections are turned off, water set to low instead of medium....etc...  I read on the forums earlier what folks were doing to speed up frame rates and it did help.  As Eco pointed out however...dispense a bunch of flares and frame rates drop to a crawl.  I son't think Eco or I have a great video card... (I have an AMD XP3000+ barton, 512MB Ram, GEforce4 Ti4400 128MB.  I suspect that those of you with higher ended cards will get much better performance...  I'm pleased so far with the game....Lots of configuring...  A note:  The configuration is fairly simple...it just takes a little time.  Eco and I spawned...landed and then took off together in some SU-27's...I should post some screen shots later when I get home this evening....  Oh...and there is no simple "refly" button that we could find...  Was the first evening with it though...give us some time to check it out more...  For folks in Houston... The EBGames in the Marque center right off I-10 and 610 had a few copies of the game onhand... Regards,TX-Rahman"BLUE 2"

Hmmm, I can feel Lomac calling me to the darkside dammit........Any word on skinning the planes or is that still going to be an addon at some other time? The thought of seeing an F15 and an SU27 in TX colors would seal my doom for sure. And the A10 with teeth. And the Mig29, that would look good too. And the Su25, always been a favorite of mine. And a 1975 VW Beetle...bet that would look righteous in TX colors. In fact, I bet anything that moves would look good in the TX scheme. Hmmm....must test this theory....Here kitty kitty kitty.........TX-ZenBlack 6

Does the Su 27, Su 33 and Fulcrum have the infra red tracking in the game?  If so, this would give it a nice edge, as you have no way of knowing your being tracked with ir.  Might buy it on the way to work today....just pop it on the ol credit card, and seeing as its close to maxed....just pay that debt off with the line of credit......simple.

Yeah, there are some things that take some figuring out, as the manual doesn't look too helpful (not that I read it or anything). The FPS aren't bad, it feels much like FB on my machine, but fps avg a little lower becasue there are so many other aircraft on the map, and MUCH more detailed terrain, cities, settlements and roads. . . and as Rah said. . the missle, chaff/flare smoke and light hits FPS hat depending on settings. . .you have the ability to dispense hundreds of these and I managed, from an externals view looking back, to get my fps to hit 2.BUt that is a settings issue, and normally your not looking backwards, and from a distance the FPS effect is minimal.I asked about skins a long time ago, and the answer was "sorry, we won't be doing that"  now that could always change, and someone may simply find a way in, like they did with Jane's, but I wouldn't bank on it.Rahman and I were flying in Russian Knights paint. . . that was cool, he is 2, im 1 so at least we got that!  ;-)S!TX-EcoDragonBlack 1TX Squadron XO

It appears that you can create custom skins. Although it is not as straight forward as FB. You need to install a plugin (to what I don't know) to read the files. From lomac forum (where guy had made a custom Syrian fighter skin):
quote:
" Now where do I copy the file. Which directory in - lockon do I put  [the skin file] into? not so easy, you have to use the cdds browser to insert the dds
link for cdds browser download (whatever that is)Sad http://www.checksix-fr.com/bibliotheque/detail_fichier.php?ID=1412) I'll try to find more info on how to do it.BTW...just picked up my copy up half an hour ago. Hard as heck to find! Time for a crash course (literally) in modern avionics, lol.

For now at least, those [skins] are hardcoded into the mission. This will probably change in the patch however.-MattKompan wrote:- I would like to change the color of the paint - schemes for the training, regular missions and - campaign missions. Browsing the checksix forum, I found this 10 page thread that details how to modify textures. It appears (from translations) that it is more than difficult to do and requires going into the coding. But, it is possible, cause they have a custom skin available for download there. Here's the thread if anyone knows french very well, or wants to struggle through translations. http://www.checksix-forums.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=25716I think, and hope, this will  be posted sometime soon in the lockon ubi forum in a clear step-by-step process. Or, changes with the patch. But, for now, it looks like skinning is not really feasible without some DX SDK developer kits and such.
