Ok, so I'm kicking around the idea of hosting a small game.

This is what I have.

  • Dell XP professional

  • 2.0 gz

  • 80 gigs (5 gigs free)

  • 512 ram

  • 128 nVidia (came with the system)

  • Belkins Router - firewall

  • Zonealarm on the XP

If this is sufficient then I need a map to test with. PM me, answer this post or post a small map.  Let's get on teamspeak so someone can guide me through the process.

I'm tired of waiting on UBI to join a game.

I understand the frustration with waiting for a slot to come open on Ubi if the game is any good and the pings are better. With the specs you postes you should have no trouble hosting 16/17 players. When i used to host all the time I would set the max players at 17...thus allowing 16 players to join and myself being able to fly..Set your graphics settings to mid level...and load a map that has a minimum of AA and other objects. I am off for the next week (other than working on the new house) and should be able to kick out a few maps if you would like. One thing to note however....since ver 1.11 of FB came out I have been unable to host on Ubi...I can host no problem on HyperLobby but not on Ubi for some reason...maybe we can get together and work out this bug!...Vodka, Sterno, and Nitrous Oxide a happy Bomber Pilot make!TX-CUDA on UBITX-CUDA on HyperLobby

Cuda,Great! I you would send me a small map (I prefer winter ) I'll be on comms tonight, Dec 4,  around 7:30 PM ET.Since you and I have a similar system layout, I'm sure we can figure out why you can't host. Thanks, S~TX-MonguseGreen 2

MOnguse, I'll try and get enough time to sit down and make a small map if I can...but I have been fighting w/ Reliant Energy trying to get my lights turned on over at the new house for the last three days and am still having to put up with their crap. Good thing I have some friends that work downtown Houston that are trying to push the simple re-connect up a week so that I can get in there and lay some tile and paint some walls! I'll see what I can do but it looks pretty shaky right now as I am so busy trying to get the house re-modeled for a Dec 20/23rd move in. If I get anything made soon I'll e-mail the files to you and add a read-me for set up on your system. In the mean time I will put out this request once again. IF anyone has any of the old maps that I made such as the Anapa race map, the TX-Mountains map, or any others that we used to host on the OC3 could you please post them here for re-work with the additional A/C we have now? It would be greatly appreciated....Vodka, Sterno, and Nitrous Oxide a happy Bomber Pilot make!TX-CUDA on UBITX-CUDA on HyperLobby

Monguse,                With the 128kbit upstream, it will be tough to host a 16 player game if not impossible.  Simply not enough outbound bandwidth to do so... 128kbits = 15kbytes per second....  My teamspeak server has to dish out twice that with just 10 of us connected to it... (Around 35- 40 kbytes per sec)Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.... Regards,TX-Rahman"BLUE 2"

Agreed Rahman, when testing one of the iterations of TX-OC3 at my house before moving it to Walden, most I was ever really able to host without massive warping was 5 or 6 players tops.   I had 128k upload at the time, and not sure how much double or triple that rate would help out.  I'm sure it would help some, but 16 players might be ambitious.TX-Deck out.

Yes but not much. I run about the same 3000 down and 188 up. I can host ten but after about 15 minutes it gets goofy... no teamspeak with it unless you really turn the sound quality down and cut your players to 6.S~TX-FlightRisk Green 3
