Gentlemen,

SnoopBaron from the Fighting Irish squadron and I have been discussing the idea of scrims and mutual training sessions between our squadrons. They have their standard Wednesday session tonight around 1900CST and we are invited to attend.

I plan on being there for sure, for TX this is  optional and purely for fun. They are doing something interesting tonight called P51 vs the World. Basically they use FBD (40 planes/20 pilots) and start the mission off as P51 vs P51. When one side wins, the map rotates to the next mission, for example P51 vs Dora. That mission completes and it rotates again to P51 vs K4 and so on.

The idea is designed to give the P51 side constant and dedicated training against particular adversary plane types and gives the adversary pilots good training in fighting dedicated mustang pilots.

Snoop and I are interested in TX becoming a fairly regular adversary squadron so that they can continue to refine their mustang skills and tonight I'm going to go take a look to see how it shakes down. Ought to be interesting.

You can find the Fighting Irish in HL by the callsign

:FI: followed by player name...for example :FI:SnoopBaron.

The :FI website is here:

And my introductory post is here:

If you are interested, be on comms anytime around 1900CST and we'll take it from there. There are no expectations for tonight, this is a low pressure meet and greet to have some fun and learn new things.

Last night we flew against :FI: for about 3 hours in their P51 vs the World scenario and had a blast. The Fighting Irish are good teamplayers, fight with excellent coordination and are very agressive. There were many parts of the evening when I could look up, down, right, left and backwards and see nothing but mustangs mustangs mustangs everywhere. It was great :)Our first matchup was 6 FI P51 vs 5 TX D9 and we did alright. We didn't sweep the field but we didn't get slaughtered either. I know the plane is not familar to most of you and I could hear the cursing even when you guys didn't have the mic keyed Smiley For me it was awesome though, there is nothing like being gang-banged by a zillion mustangs and fighting every inch of the way for survival. The intensity of certain parts of that engagement were some of the best online experiences I've had in FB...SnoopBaron and I got into a nasty little 1 vs 1 at low altitude which I have to say was some of the best flying I've seen a mustang driver do and made me feel like we were two aggressive and determined Aces clawing at each other for every inch of advantage. The ferocity was insane but extremely entertaining. (sadly I made the mistake of fighting over enemy flak and got a hole punched in the fuel tank...when the gas ran out I swear I could see Snoop's pilot get the biggest grin ever)S~ Snoop for that one, it pretty much made my entire week :)The Ki84 vs Mustang engagement was fun for me also, but now I was in the same boat the rest of TX was in when flying the D9...I do not like the Ki84, have no experience in it and couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. That plane is WAY too twitchy in pitch, I could never even come close to a stable shot. I think everyone else had a blast though, by that point we were 6 FI on 4 TX and the mayhem was insane. Once again I look around after coming out of my endless blackouts and see nothing but mustangs swarming all over the place and on a couple of occasions realized I had so many bullet holes in my plane there really wasn't room for more. I do believe that we'll go back next wednesday for another round and see what they have cooking gentlemen. I enjoyed the evening immensely and despite not doing as well as I wanted to on a personal level, I did in fact get some interesting training. For one thing, I rarely have to stall fight on the deck in the Dora, but with so many mustangs it became an inevitability...that alone was great training because I learned and refined a couple of new tricks right then and there. I got what I was expecting out of it...a chance to do some cross training, a chance to meet another squad and the opportunity to evaluate TX in semi competitive environment. For that I'd like to thank SnoopBaron and the Fighting Irish...and thanks also for the very nice hospitality on their server. They were very polite and welcomed us nicely. Salute to TX and :FI:, look forward to more meetings!TX-ZenBlack 6

Good time last night although as you say it was a tough first half.  I here by want it to be known that I shall never put my arse in another Dora for as long as I shall live.  It’s a sadistic plane.  Seems to fly ok when I was the aggressor, doesn’t turn real well but it’s ok.  But as soon as one of the Irishmen get on your arse all it wan’ts to do is either fly straight or tumble out of the sky, Ahhhhhh!  Don’t know how you do it Zen, maybe the force just runs strong in you.  Like you said, that Ki is one twitchy girl.   I had the same problem, most of my rounds ended up whizzing over or under the bandits.  Would be a great plane except for the bouncing, maybe its something you can get use too or maybe it’s possibly to change the sticks curve statement.  Not sure we gave the FI exactly what they were looking for since most of us were not accustomed to those planes and weren’t flying to their potential but it was good practice none the less.  I learned something’s as well.
