This was the largest and final battle of Kursk in July 1943 and is the focus of a new mission I am creating and testing right now.

Here's a few screens to wet your appetite, but there are several more intense ground pounding locations in store. The mission is almost finished and will be ready for play testing soon.

The basic mission is completed and it's up in UBI for playtesting the lag. There are a few hundred tanks, ATG's, artillery pieces, trucks and cars in this mission and some of them are in direct combat. I want to see how playable it is before I start cranking it for FBD. TX-ZenBlack 6

If you are interested, I have a stupidly over detailed account of the battle down to the number of infantry units / panzers, air, and infinite minutia on weather and lighting conditions. Also included is a timeline in 15 minute increments. Too much information.TX-KingsnakeWhite 1

This will be interesting... but will it be flyable...As I understand it there were thousands of tanks/artillery units at Kursk...Now I admit right away I'm no history buff but wasn't that mainly a tank battle (seen some footage on Discovery channel - awsome) - sky blackened - IL2's (and others) flying overhead - glad I wasn't there then...How many tanks / units you plan to insert into the map ?

With over a hundred tanks, artillery pieces, trucks etc, the mission ran fine for 10 players online. I think it's workable to have large battles online, we have a very fast connection. Most of the peeps that helped play test were on DSL and thought it ran very well. TX-ZenBlack 6

I noticed during the course of the battle that the 3rd SS Leiberstandarte was getting it's ass handed to them. Being a hard charging TXer and former tank commander, I jumped in to lend a hand:Here I'm getting nasty as I wanna be, spraying hot lead over onto the shattered remenants of the Soviet 5th Guards division defending the low water crossing. Look at those guns rock!Oh crap, it's getting hot in here. With guns dry, I pull the lever to eject. "Get clear Red 5, you can't do any more good back there" the wingman tank calls over the radio. "Sorry!" I say as I peel out of there. The concussion from this shot darn near killed me (and I must admit I think I peed myself, but just a little). My ears are still ringing from the blast but good news is that Fritz, Otto, Wilhelm, Karl and Franz all made it out of their disabled Panther alive. Worst part about this is that I had to ride in the truck back to base with them arguing who's fault it was that their tank got TKO'd. Fortuntately my quick and decisive ground action turned the tide of the battle and the Soviets were forced to withdraw due to heavy casualties, mostly from 13 and 20mm fire. S~~TX-ZenBlack 6
