Oh, I decided for some reason to post this.  Maybe to give you all a view of where I'm flying from.

I saw CrazyIvans rig posted here a while back, and figured - hey.

Note the really neat 'simulated' .50 cal bullet holes in my 'seat'.  Courtesy of our leather-loving fat cat with bigclaws 'Crisco'.

Seriously, I really love the dual 'keyboard' trays I put underneath the desktop.  I like my joystick and throttle somewhat lower than my cockpit window.  This seemed like a good solution and has worked out very well.

Whoa, very nice. . . that may be one of the most well set up cockpits I have seen that stilll allows computer use in short order.  The dual trays is probably the way to go. . . me, its all just piles in frontt of my monitor figting for desk space. . . sometimes i actually punch my monitor when i roll inverted  :-(I have been thinking about getting TrackIr when I find the extra cash. . . I think it would go a long way in my other sims to enhance realism. . .I just need to get it from some place that will let me return it. I also am in need of a new stick.  :-(S!TX-EcoDragonBlack 1TX-Squadron XO

Cuda, did you know that Donald Caldwell, the author of the "JG26 Top Guns of the Luftwaffe" is a Texan too?I love that book.......It gave me much more of a feel for how impossible it was to actually be a Dora or A8/9 driver in day to day life.  Every time I get to feeling bad about my job/life/kids etc....I go to the last third of that book and start reading.  Eco....Good to see you, friend.   I know all this stuff costs so much, I'm embarassed sometimes at what I put into IL2 in the last year or so.  On the other hand, when I'm home, I'll bet I fly about 14-20 hours a week.  For entertainment, costed out by the hour, I'll bet it's not all that much.Notice the $14.00 keyboard?  Big keyboard would get in the way of my flight controls!  This is how this setup looks 24/7.  I built this rig for one thing and one thing only ......IL2!The processor is overclocked from 2.8 to 3.37 Ghz so I could drive the FSB from 800Mhz to 940Mhz....got about 10 FPS more that way...I can't recommend the Cougar and TrackIR highly enough.  I've had my Cougar for, oh about a year now and it still works fine.  A little maintenace is required.  Like cleaning pots every 5 months or so (very easy). Every IL2 Command for CEM is mapped to my throttle and every flight control and view command is mapped to my Joystick.  The Nostromo speed pad (very underutilized) has only 2 commands mapped to it, Start/Stop Recording Track and the Attach/Release command for the I-16 SPB.  One of these days, I plan to use the Bombsight/Gunsight commands from the Nostromo but just have'nt gotten around to mapping it yet (my next career will be as a Bomber guy).I bought a Saitek X45 two months ago, with the thought that I'd take it on travel with me to play from my Laptop.  I'm now going to give it to my brother.  I'm too spoiled.  The X45 compared to the Cougar is like night and day.  The software especially.  I assumed that the Saitek came with more sophisticated programming options, but I was wrong. So, when I was on travel last month, I actually packed a second suitcase with my Cougar (foam inserts) and rudder pedals........and flew online from my hotel room (good in DC area-bad connectivity in rural Western PA).Check out this setup Eco........this is what you can do with a Cougar.....and the feel is awesome!  It adds so much to the immersion factor for me..Black 2

Pretty cool!!Funny, I have my equipment layed out in a similar fashion, (great minds think alike)  except that I have a small TV dinner table to my left that allows me to use my mouse to pan  when I disconnect the TrackIR.I'd take a photo but the man cave has been the hurricane holding room for a while.  It's a little cramped to say the least. And BTW, congrats on you being a Grand Dad!!!!S~TX-MonguseWhite 1War Room General

.....cheesy? I have one here also. Keyboard under the monitor...mouse to the right of the keyboard away a bit...and the joystick sits next to the monitor until I get ready to fly. Compact and everything close as needed.5.1 speaker system in front and behind me with the two subs on either side of the setup. Nothing fancy but it gets the job done as I am sure that all here do. I find that with all the bells and whistles it can get a little complicated so I just grab the stick...look around with the mouse...and do my best under the circumstances to try and keep from getting shot down!TX-CudaMinister of Information

Hey Copper,It's the pilot, not the plane.  Same with gear.   Only when you have the gear (or an I-185)....you don't have any excuses.Black 2

Actually TX-Bomblast's setup is not that cheesy, little cramped but functional. The best thing is that rumble chair. Has a sub-woofer on your backside (butt) and speakers all over.  OK, I'll post pictures of my man cave this weekend.S~TX-MonguseWhite 1War Room General
