Want the most realistic procedural ATC experience possible in a flight sim? Check out Vatsim, get the software and start learning, or brushing up on your ATC procedures with live, well trained controllers!

This  is really worth checking out for any hardcore simmer, and a must have for someone who wants to get a feel for the ATC system. . . especially those who are thinking of starting their real-world flight training.

This works with MS sims, as well as X-Plane and a few of the older others.

Getting set up is a bit tricky for MSFS users, In fact I jsut gave up on it as I also have it set up for X-Plane wihich is as simple as can be. . .set up takes no more than 3 minutes and your ready to go! If this sort of thing is a big attractant to you and you don't have either sim yet this is should factor into your choice of the sims. . .

One day I'll get it together and get on VATSIM.  I've always wanted to, just embarrassed I might screw it all up and be laughed at because I'm not that great of a pilot yet.Cage    ... end ...

Nah. . . just announce Student Pilot on your initial callup just like ya do in the real world and they will help ya out however they can. That said, they are fairly serious. . . they usually expect you to have appropriate charts and approach plates if your doing IFR, and you should get at least some help with regard to procedures. . . which I can certainly incorporate into what we do in teh virtual gorundschool. I can hook ya up with pdf forms of approach plates to most airports if ya request them from me, enroute or sectional charts are another matter. . . if ya dont mind flying in California and Nevada I can probably help ya out.S!TX-EcoDragonBlack 1TX-Squadron XO
