You know I have built a few RC models like a lot of us have. Why would it be a big deal to create the outside of the cockpit like building an RC model on a larger scale. Man some of those plans are exactly scaled down. You could use wood spars and frame and cover it in fabric. Why wouldn't it work?

Wood frame covered with fabric?    Keep on going and you'll have an actual scale airframe in no time!Heeeellllll ya it would work.    Keep us posted with pics and descriptions, can't wait to see your progress.   ;)TX-Deck out.

Eco that is Incredible. Rahman I am with you on those mock ups Kirk did....where's the plans lol. Now the plans to build an RC one would be available sooooooooooo.... And ya know I guess your right Deck. Wouldn't be far off would it...Hell I bet a caveman could do it... but that may be condescending to some.S~TX-FlightRisk "If my plane is smoking it can mean one thing...I have been hit in one of my ass cheeks and I am cauterizing my wound....."

The game plan might not be as cumbersome as you think at first glance...  lets break it down:1) construct a functional cockpit, much like the one Rahman just built.2) obtain 3 view plans for the airframe you want to mimic of the fuselage3) map out the curves for the formers from the 3-view plans, and the locations where they will provide the most support4) start cutting!Obviously, there is more to it than that.   The cockpit will have to fit inside the fuselage, so if you are going for a scale look this might be tricky.  Once you have the formers in place, how cool would it be to use 1/8" basswood strips instead of cloth, then cover with some light fiberglass and go ahead and make a durable shell?   This might turn out to be a very worthy project, and would be the envy of many on the internet.Getting fired up yet?TX-Deck out.
