Well, first of all, what is going on on Saturday? A lesson or something bigger? You don't want to be switching log books around too much so I would just let the CFI know that yours hasn't arrived yet, you will probably want to get the one you used to start your training as you will need that anyway, it is your record of your training thus far, and while it's no biggie to switch books, you will need to take two with you while you are a student pilot. Just be sure when you do switch books to have an accurate hourly total for each entry class in the book and move these to your new book in the amount forwarded section. As far as whihc logbook, the ASA would be the best for you right now. That pilot journal is cool, and in a way I already keep a log like that. . but it's for me. . . not the FAA. The FAA just wants the basics of your flight. Many would even say that the less you say in your official logbook the better. You want to be tidy, organized, clear, (no whiteout or complete crossing out of anything) if you do make a mistake, do a single strike through of the mistake. These things may be challenged by the FAA, so you do want to record why you made that mistake, but often it's better to do that in a separate book. . .like your pilot journal you've ordered. I have an online logbook with my club at 0O5, and it's pretty handy, the nice thing about it is that it totals each column for you as you go, so every time I get to the end of a page and double check all the math I can compare it to the digital log. So, to get to the point, I would try to get the ASA you alredy have even if it means the CFI has to make an entry in the book at a later date. . . talk to the CFO about it. . .if that is feasible then do it, if not you might jsut want to buy one form the FBO. If there are many hours in your current logbook that *can* be risky to ship it, and if that's the only way to get it then maybe just buy one at the FBO. . . it will probably be the ASA, or Jeppesen. I haven't actually found a logbook I *really* like, I just look for a strong binding, and a good number of blank areas for me to fill in custom columns. My current book doesn't have room for "Complex" "High-Performance" AND "Tailwheel" so I have divided the hours and tenths colums on one and use the hours column for High Performance hours.tenths and the tenths column for tailwheel hours.tenths.Not ideal. . . Jeppesen has their proffessional pilot log, thats nice, but huge, and for a smaller log this one sounds nice, but still has most anything you will need for a while:
