...just getting this new card set up and took some pics tonight. This is with FB set at  water=3 . No other settings changed, just had the video setup in FB set at full blast. I think that with some tweaking it might get to looking somewhat better...

....might need to bump up the size a bit. I have the map we were flying on sent via "Voudoo" and it is a pretty good darn map. It is a quick paced D/F map that gives you the ability to lift a HE-111H6(heavy) off the deck of a carrier believe it or not!  I was impressed when I got it off the deck!!TX-CudaMinister of Information

....I would not have picked it up if we hadn't received a decent bonus this year. I needed the other card to put in the box I am building for CudaJR so I guess it was about time. But this is the last thing that goes in to this box for a long time!!...TX-CudaMinister of Information

Cuda, run out to http://www.futuremark.com/download/?3dmark03.shtml and grab the 2003 demo.  Run it and let us know what you come up with.  I'm guessing you'll see well in excess of 11,000!Looking good man!TX-Deck out.

...Deck, I ran it twice. First set was with everything turned max.....I have the results but they are in a file I saved....so set at defaults with everything set at basic it says my score is 10488. This is with the MOBO(MSi K8N Platinum) set with not overclocking of the chip(AMD64 3800+) and not overclocking the ram(2GiG Geil3200), The vid card is ATi X800 PRO 256meg.Not sure if these are good numbers but I think I might be able to tweak it a tad once I get the ram and chipset overclocked a tad. Then I ought to be able to overclock the vid card using the stuff I am reading at www.overclockers.com as well as some other sites. This is keeping me pretty busy and it is surely an educational experience!!!!!!TX-CudaMinister of Information

Sounds good Cuda!Reason I asked you to run that is with my AMD64 3200+ (lesser speed than yours) and the GeForce 256mb 6800 OC, I was able to chalk up around 11,200.   I would expect for you to get the same or better right out of the box.  I wouldn't freak out about it, but you might look at driver tweaks and such before entering the overclocking realm.  Get everything running smooth with a stock setup, then go for the gusto!  Run it again if you don't mind, and use the 1024 settings with everything at default, and let me know what you come up with.Looking good man, you have to be happy with the new rig already, right?  What kind of frame rates are you getting in FB?TX-Deck out.

....Deck, i will try the settings at 1024 and default and run it again to see what I get. As far as framerates last night I was on some map and had everything maxed out using the ATi desktools util I installed and I was getting avg 57fps...max at 87 I think. I was trying to see what the sim would look like with all the eye candy and also to see if I could make it stutter at all. It seems to be running great as it is. I saved a few articles from 3DGuru that tell of pushing the XTPro a bit without having to do mods to the cooling and if my memory serves me it said that you can push the core/memory clocks up over 500-540 with no damage. I'll have to read some more before I push it too hard as I don't get another bonus until next year!TX-CudaMinister of Information

...just read that setting the water=3 in the conf.ini makes no diference with an ATi card as it is not set up the same way with shaders as the 6800's. Read it in the forums under a post about the water settings. Saw a pic with a 6800GT with water set at 3 and there were some whitecaps that looked like some of the old "Victory at Sea" films!...TX-CudaMinister of Information

Yes, Water=3 turns on the new tech shaders that currently are only supported on nVidia 6 series cards. . . that said it cuts fps in half, and really doesn't look much better other than when you are 300 feet or less over the water, or when the weather is bad. I run still run water=1 with my nVidia 6800 and find the IQ and eye candy are just fine in particular when the fps hit is factored in, and I dod see whitecaps, but not the big ones, and the refflections are toned downa  little (toa  more realistic level). . . maybe if I flew more stormy maps I'd have a  different take on it, but I don't.S!TX-EcoDragonBlack 1TX-Squadron XO
