....the read-me and the book that comes with the sim says "Detailed instructions on using the Mission Editor can be found on the game DVD" Well, I lokked....and was unable to find where in the world the instructions were. SO..... here is a link that is very informative and should have you making up those convoys that you have only dreamed about coming across your attack periscope's crosshairs! I know that I will be making several missions that will range from "Easy" early war convoy intercept maps that were in the "Happy Days" before the Enigma code was broken...all the way up to 1945 when the Kriegsmarine were fighting for there very survival. You fellow TX'ers might wonder why I have taken such an interest in the sub side of WW2. It's simple, most of the German sub forces were not the fanatics that you saw in the SS and other ground pounders. Herr Doenitz was never a strict adherent to the whims of the NAZI party according to several reference books I have here. Thus, I will try and contribute to this community as I have done with the IL2/FB/PF side of the war.
...at any rate after such a long ramble...here is the link to the Mission Editor tutorial..

...copy and paste this as if have SH3 these are very usefull...General tips - stuff that you need to know!!Some menu options require a double-click to execute, such as the "Save" game feature and "Accept New Profile". Some stations are most easily accessible by the hotkey:M  :Radio Messages H  :Hydrophone station U  :UZO B  :Binoculars Q  :Open outer torpedo door K  :Captain's log There is a Quick Reference Guide with the game that details all the hotkey but these are the ones you will use most frequently.Keys and features that are not in the manual. While on a mission check the help screen (F1) it lists a couple of interesting ones. Some keys that are not even listed there are: - Shift+F2: Free roam in command center and conning tower. Just don't try to roam out of the sub. You will get graphic messups. - Ctrl+P: To solve (toggle) Nvidia particle bug. - Shift+PageUp/Page Down: Increase/decrease the Glare feature (software antialiasing). - Ctrl+Leftclick in Navigation map: Center the map on that spot. - Chat in multiplay: Numlock to start chat, type text, then hit ENTER. But be careful: if you hit ENTER 2 times, you fire a fish! -Shift+F11: Take continuous screenshots, press again to stop. Of course you better use the "one screenshot a time" option instead (Ctrl+F11).Ctrl + Page Up or Page Down, raises and lowers attack scope fully. Same with Ctrl + Insert and Delete for the Observation scope. When moving through the U-boat compartments, don't forget your right-mouse button!Early in your career, your crew is green; they get tired easy and dangerous action affects their morale. Be a good and supportive skipper and they will rise to the challenge. Be sure to rest them during engagements when they are not needed. Torpedo reload times: Your men will post their estimate for how much time till a tube is reloaded. If you look closely at the torpedo icon, you can see the color change as the tube is loaded. ...One other thing, if you want to take a screenshot without any of the gauges or anything else showing just hit your ", del" key on your Numpad and it will clear the screen for a good shot....More to come as I dig this stuff up.TX-CudaTo date tonnage: 120,110  of shipping that will never reach England!

I'll put a server up tonight 05/05/05 at 9PM CENTRAL on UBi. Just join Multiplayer from SH3 and look for TX-Cuda's Server. I have some new maps that I want to try out. One of them is just off the coast of Galveston,TEXAS(Woot!!) and if it is set up right we can sink the heck out of tankers and freighters as they leave Texas City,TX...which is just inside the bay north west of Galveston. I'll see if I can get the thing up beforehand. TX-CudaMinister of Information

...I've been running the Galveston map and it is pretty tough! One thing I noticed last night is that the Dike that extends out into the Bay from Texas City just north of Galveston/Pelican Island is even included in the map. I also noticed that there was some freighter traffic coming down the ship channel from Houston...which is well north of Galveston but still has access to Galveston Bay. Pretty tricky to line up for shots as the depth is rather shallow and there are armed trawlers all over the place.....I'll post some pics from the map later.TX-CudaMinister of Information

Flightrisk...I can't decode the above post! You ought to know that a "Wolfpack" refers to a group of U-Boats that worked in tandem to destroy as many Allied ships as possible when they encountered a convoy headed for England. The more ships they sank...the more hurt they were able to put on the Allied build that was going on. In SH3 CooP missions that is what is usually strived for...read the brief as to where the convoy is expected to be (grid coordinates).....get your other boats headed in the same direction via comms...and patrol the grid mentioned in the brief until one of us makes a contact and notifies the other boats as to heading and speed. THEN the real fun starts. One thing I have noticed is that this sim is pretty realistic in the sense that I was running deep while on approach and ordered "ALL STOP" so that my hydrophone operator could listen for the convoy and any escorts they might have had. One of the other boats that was with us had just launched a two torp spread against a large troop carrying liner. I could hear the distant explosions and then the hull noises that the sinking ship made as she made her final journey to the bottom of the Atlantic....and from quite a distance. I surfaced and headed on an intercept course at 16kts and was able to take out four ships with my torps and two with my deck guns. In total myself and the three other boats that were with my on this CooP map sank 17 Allied ships with the loss of one Type VIIB U-boat.TX-CudaMinister of Information
