...working on a new MultiPlayer map for SH3...here is the scenario...

Winter 1942

FLASH Message from Berlin follows:

ALL UNITS GULF OF MEXICO

Intel reports that the Americans are shipping petrol products to the British via
the refinery complex located at Texas City,Texas. This target is located inside Galveston Bay,Texas and all tankers exit via the channel on the east side of the island. Our agents also report that cargo ships are loading ammo crates and containers,as well as lend/lease aircraft at the Port of Houston. All shipping exits the Galveston Bay complex via the same route at the channel on the East side of the main island.

All available U-Boats are to make best speed from your bases in South America...as well as out new base located in Havana...and intercept these
ships as they leave the American port at Glaveston,Texas

Be advised that are reports that PBY's are launching and patrolling from a Army Aircorps Base located between Houston and Galveston. Intel calls this airbase "Ellington". Photo recon shows these PBY aircraft loaded with depth bombs as well as 1000 Kilo iron bombs..so stealth is needed.

Headquarters advises that resupply may be several weeks off, so make sure each torpedo/deck gun counts!

Sink as many of the enemy ships as possible, avoid the shore based naval
guns located on Galveston Island...and bring the wrath of the Fatherland to the place the Americans call Texas!

....that was the brief for the new map I have been working on for the last several days.

I have Tankers loading and traversing from Texas City...I have freighters loaded with ammo, cargo, and Spitfires on the deck leaving Houston.

Coastal guns are placed where the San Luis hotel is(that is where they were at), on the East end of the Island at the end of the seawall(Go there and look at the gun tubs that are still there today)....and off historical I placed some cannon and searchlights on the Bolivar Peninsula.

...all in all I think that this SH3 map ought to be a breath of fresh air. Pretty historical with the year set at 1942....ships coming out of the right location...patrol planes flying out of Ellington..as well as some "specials" flying out of Hitchcock!

...still setting waypoints as well as spawn points so I ought to have it ready in a day or so.

...glad the forums are back up! I have been working on this map some more and should have it ready to run sometime this weekend. Since the manual for the editor is pretty much non-existant I had to learn with a lot of trial and error. I was able to run a test last night and was finally able to get the shipping to run out into the Gulf from dockside at Houston,Texas City, and as an afterthought from the Port of Galveston without any errors. Next I will add a few armed trawlers that will patrol the Bolivar Roads on the east end of the island as well as a few destroyers offshore at the approches to Galveston. This is shaping up to be a pretty good map set to start on December 13th,1942.Winds are blowing at a steady 11kts from the northwest.Fog and rain are forcast  until the cold front crosses the Gulf Coast.Weather conditions and medium/rough seas offshore will help as you will be able to approach on the surface without being spotted until you get close to the Island.
