Here is the report from Dickinson,Texas.I am now holed up in the Verizon switching office here.Located just a block from the dickinson Bayou. The bayou was already over it's banks at 4PM and is expected to continue rising through the night. I can get on the second floor of the office if need be. It is now almost 8PM and we are starting to pick up some pretty good gusts up to approximately 50-60mph.Hurricane Rita is expected to make landfall at or near Port Arthur Texas between 12 midnight and 1AM.I just took a look at the local radar loop that our National weather service doppler site had up and it looks like we are just beginning to see the first outer bands approach from the north east. You can look at the same thing by hitting this link
http://www.skywarn-texas.org/ and pulling down the menu under the map of the US. Click the one that links to NWS sites and once that page comes up click on the Doppler Radar Sites page then click on the one to the south of Houston. I have already shot some video while it was still daylight and plan on getting up on the rooftop patio we have here later on to shoot some more if the winds aren't too bad up there. By the way, I was treated to a pretty good dinner tonight by the Dickinson Police Department after the chief pulled over while I was shooting the video off the bridge over Dickinson Bayou. Instead of haveing a can of soup for dinner I had six big as heck bacon wrapped shrimp,a pile of darn good crab cakes, and a fresh off the grill rib eye. I was invited back for more later tonight but am too full right now. Good people over there and it is only a block away in case it's too windy to drive. Anyway, I'll report back in to you guys later tonight and give Ya'll a status report on this part of Texas as Hurricane Rita blows me....er us.RockyTX-CudaMinister of Information
