I'm posting this as an example as what processes are running on my machine on startup vs. how many are once I've killed the non-essential processes. Before killing the non-essential processes After Regards, TX-Rahman "BLACK 4"

That's just what I've been looking for... I've been using msconfig to keep some program from launching in the first place, but this is what I need!Is it "Freeware"? If so, do you know where I could download it, other than from PCMagazine, since apparently they're charging now just to download files--unless that's just their way of actually charging for THEIR software. I found a copy on another website, but it didn't list Windows XP as a supported platform... just went as far as Windows 2000. I noticed the version and dates were the same with what's on PCMag.com. Perhaps I need "TaskPower2"?TX-ScubaSteveWhite 4

Steve, I actually downloaded this before they started charging for it. Lemme look around for it. The version I have is definately freeware. TOAD also mentioned another app to help free resources for flight sims and it's configurable. I'll post more when I can find it!! Regards,TX-Rahman"BLACK 4"

Thanks for posting TX-Rahman, Once I finish setting up this install, I'll post my info. Curious what OS are you using? I'm XP pro. Here is the prog I mentioned, that I am using. I have it start TackIr and defrag memory, while launching. You can make it do all kinds of stuff, But I keep it simple Stupid as much as I can. Toad, Running XP Pro here as well. Non-SP2.... Thanks for posting that link!! I'm gonna give this application a shot. I have to kill all my processes manually everytime I reboot. This will help!Regards,TX-Rahman"BLACK 4"

Hey Cuda and Eco,You can download the file at WSPilots.com. They were at first a little intimidating too, as it looked at first glance like you'd have to register, but after browsing their unsearchable (yet sortable) library of utilities, you can find FSAutoStart at http://www.wspilots.com/index.php?page=4&action=file&file_id=944Download link: http://www.wspilots.com/modules/mx_pafiledb/dload.php?action=download&file_id=944TOAD, thanks for the headsup on this program. I have a couple questions though that maybe you can answer. First, when toggling programs or services for "stop" or "stop and restart", what does the latter option actually really mean? Does it restart these programs and services once the application (such as IL-2) is shut down, or when FSAutoStart is shut down? Also, if I configure it to launch hyperlobby, which in turn will launch IL-2, should I set the process priority to "Low", since I don't want Hyperlobby taking up my processor resources while IL-2 is running? Or does that really matter?BTW, for anyone interested, I found a website that gives some hints as to what some start-up programs are and/or hints if they're needed at http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.phpTX-ScubaSteveWhite 4

ScubaSteveSorry for the delay in reply, Things are hectic here of late for me. I have mine starting TrackIr, I have it set to stop, restart. This means what ever programs it shuts down, it will restart once I turn off my Track Ir. I have yet to mess with the priority thing. So test and let us know. Since all this began I have reloaded my machine and made it duel boot XP Pro sp2 I have my first intall on a 100gig drive. It has every thing I ever do short game in that OS. I have it partioned into two equal parts. The back half of this drive Has My game installed on it. My second OS is on a 120 gig drive I have only XP and drivers and Gaming perifials installed on it. I partioned it to 15 gig, for OS. The remainder of this drive is My Documents. Both OS's have My Documents directed to here. I also have Both OS Backed up on DVD with Ghost. So now when and if my Gaming OS act funny 30 minutes later I have a freshly loaded system ready to game imediatly. I'm still in the works of tweaking FSautostart to its peak. Once doen I will actually go into services and just shut all the stuff off I don't want on thsi OS and re clone it and not use FS auto any more and free up one more process. I still use it on the fron drive though, and always will. For when I'm painting or video editing. See Ya in the Sky's !!!!!!

I downloaded "end it all" since I thought that perhaps I could shut down CCAPP.exe with which refuses to be shut down in the task manager . .but no such luck. Using FSAutoStart I *can* terminate Norton. Pretty cool program.S!TX-EcoDragonBlack 1TX-Squadron XO
