I just downloaded, installed, and played BF 2142.  Pretty impressive!  I have no idea what I'm doing, but I seem to have longer intervals of staying alive than I do with BF2... perhaps because everyone else is trying to figure things out.  It sure is cool though jumping off a titan as it's blowing up... Only did it once though, and kept hitting the "9" key to deploy my parachute...  but I went 'splat' anyway.  Guess spacebar was the key to hit.  Oh well... die and learn...

I guess I'm mostly impressed that my computer can handle this game at full graphic detail settings, and for the most part runs just as smoothly as BF2 does.  Occassionally I've gotten static on my speakers... but not sure if that the EMF pulses frying electronics somewhere or just my computer trying to run the game at the highest audio settings when it shouldn't.  In any case, the sound effects are very impressive--very emmersive... even more so than BF2 it would seem.  In fact I don't think my subwoofer has gotten such a work out... the low frequency from explosions makes you feel like you can actually FEEL the explosion, and I don't have my speakers turned up very loud either.

I like the whole concept of storming a titan and destroying key objectives, culminating in destroying the core--which itself is very death-star-ish--but doesn't require launching missiles down exhaust pipes.

I think we're supposed to have things like handgranades and explosives and such... but I can't figure out how to access them.  Only weapons I have been able to use are the standard rifle per kit, another gun that resembles an uber-side arm, and a knife of all things... Not sure how well the knife works against storm-trooper like body armor!  AAA includes both guns and missile launchers.  The guns seem very effective--except against 'em walkers, which so far have been rather impervious to my attempts to trash them.

This particular map seems rather drab, so although I think the graphics in general are a little better, they don't look "nice" on this map... no sunshine, puffy white clouds and pretty butterflies...

Anyway, anyone else want to try this thing out? This is definitely a game for team play if ever I saw one.

It actually runs a good bit better than BF2:SF for me. . .Gameplay wise. . dunno yet. . .I'm not taken with it in particular. I suppose I'd almost like a game where there were more bolt action rifles. . .no UAV's and such. . .maybe a WWI/WWII theater. COD/BF1942 style etc.I just got this though so. . .I'll give it a little more time!S!TX-EcoDragonBlack 1TX-Squadron XO

I get plenty of "bolt action" with auto reload off...  Especially when firing those AT launcher thingies--as they require guidance after firing like they do in BF2.  Plus, I like how the launcher smokes after firing, and smokes even more as you open it to reload.  There's also a kind of ground-based cannon that I guess is the equivalent to the ground based AT ground based rocket launcher... but there's a second or two delay between the time it fires and when you pull the trigger, but just one hit seems to take out a walker.Speaking of walkers, I've disovered that they can walk (and sprint) over almost anything, including rough terrain/steep hills and high walls... or anything that isn't taller than its legs. With a gunner on board as well, it turns into quite a fun aggressive machine, where tanks don't stand a chance.Despite my newfangled X-fi card, I found that to avoid the occassional loud static, I had to reduce the audio setting from the higest quality setting to the next lowest setting.I still haven't survived blowing up a Titan though.  I helped take out the core with the equivalent of the AT launcher thingy... then followed everyone else out, as I had no idea how to find the exit myself.  Just as I was leaping off the Titan, it blew up... So, so far I have yet to survive a Titan blowing up.TX-ScubaSteveWhite 4

So far im more impressed with BF2.  This demo does load faster for me, and the dreaded ''verifying data'' only takes a few seconds instead of a minute like it does for BF2, but I sorta feel like it is drifting away from a military type game to a more arcadish Halo type game.  Just my thoughts tho.  Like the hover tank, and the walkers are pretty neat, although I don't know how to get them to sprint as of yet.I'll hook up with you guys on comms on my days of and we can give it a whirle with the teamplay bit.

Copper, you can control the walkers like you do yourself--except that you can't walk sideways... but you can rotate your gun turrent around by simply pointing them 90 degrees to the direction you're walking and strafe that way. In order to "sprint", hold down the "shift" key, and to hunker down, hold down the "ctrl" key.  Don't think it's possible to lay the walker prone on the ground though--which is too bad because it sure would have been fun to snipe with a walker... LOL.  That was fun teaming up in a walker the other night Eco.  At least they're not as scary when you're driving one... but wow... one time one snuck up on me, and I couldn't run fast enough... I actually had a little adrenaline rush as the thing pulverized me.  I think you heard me scream over Teamspeak, Eco.I know the rest of you seem pretty reluctant about this game, but I really think that the unlocks have some nice potential--like cloaking devices so you can run around looking like something watery...Oh, as you may have already discovered Copper, I was wrong about crouching the walker... you crouch with the "Z" key... not "ctrl"--for some reason.TX-ScubaSteveWhite 4

Good to see You guys have taken a liking to the new BF incarnation...Here are some screens shots from the next one. Battle Field:Bad Company that is due out in 2007. I have read about this one for a while now and the thing that is going to be nice is the destructable environments..meaning that you will be able to blow the heck out of the building that the sniper is hiding out in! Here is the link to the first description...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battlefield:_Bad_Company#WeaponsClick on the pic sequence on the right to enlarge...TX-CudaMinister of Information

I beta tested it Cuda...  I didn't end up buying it however.  One thing I hate about the newer series is the personal radar...where you can see where people are on a little radar screen...  To me, this is totally unrealistic, how can I hide and surprise my foes when they can plainly see where I'm hiding on their screen?

By the way, was curious.  What's the FPSCheats.com thing you have on your MSN messenger account?  Did you start a company making hacks to games?
