The general conclusion seems to be that in most games the 320 meg card isn't much slower at resolutions less than 1600x1200 (this on is slightly OCed so it's sometimes faster) than the 640 meg version. For example the only real difference these guys noticed was that with the 640 version they could add another notch of antialiasing transparency supersampling and manage to average about 1 fps better. This was generally the same sort of thing in most games.
Not bad. These cards are just showing up now, for around 299.99, compUSA has the PNY for 279 w/ free shipping.

edit to add: Anandtech has also posted a review, it shows a little more weakness in the 320 meg than the above review did as the [H]ardOCP review sample had a factory overclock, here is the stock 320 review at Anandtech:

Now in answer to how the GTS compares to the GTX in FSX see here:

Here it looks like that when set up for approx the same fps of around 33.5 avg the settings differences between the GTS and GTX are:
"Aircraft" goes from "Medium high" to "Ultra high" (casts shadows on itself), and from 8X CS Anti-Aliasing to 16X.

In summary the 320 meg 8800GTS vs the 8800GTX isn't actually a huge difference (even at resolutions as high as1920x1200 in some games) given that the GTX is just about twice the price. For the extra 250-300 bucks you get to go from 4x antialiasing to 16x, and add "aircraft casts shadows on itself"

I don't know if I'd "settle" for the 320 version, but it looks quite strong despite the fairly low onboard memory, and I think it would be silly to discount it in current games.

It looks like Oblivion is another beast of a program. . . anyone here play that?
