*****************OK - Here's the method GOZR posted on his site to deal with the load issues (I removed the second AC_Installer link from bugs with it)*********************

First look for your air.ini and planes_ru.properties located in (C:\...\Your il2 root\MODS\STD\ and look the lines bellow)
Place two "//" at the beginning of the line
//Ju-88A-4_Torp     air.JU_88A4torp 2      NOINFO  g01   SUMMER    (C:\...\Your il2 root\MODS\STD\com\maddox\il2\objects\air.ini)
//Ju-88A-4_Torp      Ju-88A-4/Torp, 1942      (C:\...\Your il2 root\MODS\STD\i18n\plane.ru.properties)
Those 2 planes from the release 1.1 will stop your Il2 to load if they are not barred.. //

Rename your two folders with what ever you want in: C:\...\Your Root IL2\files\presets and  C:\....\Your Root IL2\files\Samples


DOWNLOAD > NEW-SOUNDS-REMOVER_v3_IL2_4_08 HERE
and run it, then download
>>> AC_INSTALLER_v2.9.exe <<<( GOZR and I tested this one and it worked)
and run it but MAKE SURE when the prompt window of the AC_INSTALLER appears that you choose the option MOD ACTIVATOR

Now you should have your original sounds back but I can imagine that they will deliver a better way to remove the sounds.

Download this file: some German guns sounds are missing
HERE CLICK

Unzip it to the IL2's root folder and overwrite when prompted, your 109 gun will work Wink

Here the link for those that have the modded il2 but dislike the sounds.. To me the sounds mod is a "big turn off"..

Yep. I'd like to have all that the MODS offer but sans the new sounds. Aspects are cool and some of the better engine sounds are well done, but some are worse and there are canned effects sounds (like the bullet strikes on aircraft) that just negate all of the new sounds for me.

Give me the maps, flyables and some of the nicer tweaks, but I'd like to nix the sounds as well.

OP updated with the fix for the sounds remover.

Word of caution, it is probable that any mod server running CRT=2 will not allow you to join if you have done this. The sounds are so poor that this isn't really reason not to do it in my book - until a a CRT=2 compliant sound mod switcher comes out this is what we have to do I guess. (you wanna see bad, load up the P-40 and try to maneuver to the limit with it, or fly a Yak within 3 miles of the D11!

I can't say, I haven't tried to go back, and won't be. The sound mod just about ruins the game for me. We need a sound switcher that allows either mode to be CRT=2 compliant.

I'd just have a duplicate installation, there are enough great mods from outside AAA, and weak mods from AAA to make it worth having the ability to run other mods, but clearly for a server to work well, the CRT=2 checks should be enforcable.

So far we've just had a couple invisible planes for people without mods. . .the good news is that they don't seem to get damage by planes they can't see.
