Pre-flight:

Approaching to land in a field:

Climbing across the snow covered mountains:

Pretty sweet looking motion eh?

GOZR just getting wheels up:

GOZR and I departing the heliport:

Formed up on GOZR enroute to checkout some tanks:

GOZR and I facing off:

Apparently I win (actually he just exploded for as yet undetermined reasons):

Approaching to land at the heliport:

Trimming Trees:

Peek a boo:

It certainly looks like LockOn - but it's actually a fair amount more detailed:

Especially when you get down close to the trees - there's LOTS of trees in Black Shark:

Ok - so tell me - 1) In this version is the Ka-50 the only flyable?2) Does "Starforce" come with the d/l ?Is it that good?  I.E. will Eco and Gozr be spending over %50 of their sim time on it?  That would qualify it for me.....Thanks for the screenies...S~GunnyBlack 2 TX Flight Leader

Ok - I can answer my own questions now that I've bought the simulation and talked to Gozr.- Ka-50 is the only flyable at this time - A-10 and AH-64 (2 crew)...coming- NO STARFORCE WITH D/L.  I say again - NO STARFORCE if you buy online.S~GunnyBlack 2 TX Flight Leader

1) Yes, for now anyway2) It seems that Starforce is now part of the downloadable versions if the posts at the DCS forums are to be believed - though I've yet to see 100% confirmation (ie the starforce registry entries). While I do not like the idea of Starforce, I already have it on my machine from LockOn, with no ill-effects, and apparently the new versions of it are more streamlined than the old. Who knows. . .3) It's pretty good! The overall flavor is very much like LockOn - but with added dimensions of cockpit interface and systems management, and of course the focus is shifted to the lower and slower world of rotorcraft. The flight physics are rather good, the avionics are VERY well done, etc. "will Eco and Gozr be spending over %50 of their sim time on it?"Well, no I won't spend 50% of my sim time with it - remember, I have a lot of flight sims. . .but I'll certainly be flying it fairly regularly.S!TX-EcoDragonBlack 1TX-Squadron XO

What is the single player game about? Are you hitting tanks and gunning AI? Have you spent any time with the FMB? Can I run it on a 2.4?

I've made one mission in it so far that is a very simple one, a column of APCs to take out, and a few fixed wing aircraft duking it out overhead. It's an improvement over the LockOn, and seems pretty powerful. . .the only thing I don't like is the map itself is a cartoon of a map, not an actual cartographic map, or even satellite view. . .I figure there must be an option for this somewhere, since placing small objects, say vehicles and people around a structure would require a fair amount of precision.Oh that reminds me. . .the animated people are by far the best I've seen in any flight sim. I've had guys shooting at my chopper from buildings, and when I get down and look at them, their motions are quite good, more like you would see in a first person shooter.S!TX-EcoDragonBlack 1TX-Squadron XO
