TX-Squadron has a public TeamSpeak server available for Squadron and friends usage in many different games. This server can be found at 96.126.121.219, no password is required on this channel.

All we ask is that users set up a push to talk rather than voice activated coms (please!) and maintain coms discipline in any active game channel out of respect for those in game, as general chat belongs in the Pilot's Lounge.

For those that don't yet have TeamSpeak you may download it here: http://www.teamspeak.com/?page=downloads

Perhaps we should squirrel away (I should put a working installation file on my server space) a copy?

Are you short a copy, King?

Here is your official TS2 link

I suggest you back up the versions on the TX ftp for future needs.

...you guys are using TS3 now correct? Been many moons since I have been active and just remembered my pass to get onsite!

.....TS3 with the updates is much better than the old TS2 in my opinion!...

Totally agree, Cuda.

At least TB and I have it.  Use it on other servers.  The voice quality is so good, I find folks that I've talked with on comms sound different.

We have not changed to it on OC3, yet.  Most still have TS2.

TS3 also has an autoupdate function built in. There have been a few updates the last couple weeks and a few issues have cropped up. Some servers that had begun migration to if officially have switched back to TS2 for now. Considering TS3 is still officially a beta, I'd say go ahead and get it to familiarize yourself with it, but hang onto TS2.

There is one downside to TS3 (which I'm sure is adjustable):

- It sounds too good for any military voice communications, even in the modern world.  From a comms immersion perspective there is a lot to be said about the current system.  In fact, when TX-Sputnik was around, he had the most realistic comms I ever heard in the non-military world.

I don't need to hear TB scratching his balls, while he pops the top on a cold one and lights a cigarette, you know...

Well then if Immersion is the goal, for now on we get out Intel on the ground, and use hand signals and flares till we get back, all have to be on ground before your allowed to talk again, on main channel.

So wee need a officers club channel, and a barracks channel now. ;-)

Gunny,
The quality is definitely adjustable.  We can do some testing on this.  Maybe have the Pilot's Lounge in high def and the actual rooms we fly in at the lo fi quality.  I'm curious if there may even be a built in distortion or an addin we can use to simulate realistic radio comms...  Will look into it when I get home later.

I'm such a cynical old fart, lol when I read that.

Be good to see what you find out.  I have an idea that most folks probably enjoy the higher fidelity audio...

I would say it should be a client side thing.

I know the other day on ts3, was the first time in years, I've been able to distinguish 98% of Gozr, without asking him to repeat it.

My hearing is not as sharp as it once was, back when I first met him.

As far as the ball scratching, and such in the back ground.

I still feel it's a necessity to use PTT, if your not, your just a lazy sod, and care nothing of politeness.

LOL

We can definitely go that route.  Will see if there is plugins for the client side yet.  For me the comms cut through if they have
that nasty midrange distorted sound.  I'll follow you guy's lead on this though...  A client-side plugin would probably make everyone happy.

GOZR is understandable in TS3?  Does TS3 have an auto translator of some sort? Cheesy  (Kidding GOZR man Tongue)
