King and I have both created The 2009 Red Bull Air Race course San Diego within IL-2 (it was going on this weekend). It's a fun and straight-forward course to fly, and I will be hosting mine Sunday evening at 8:30 PM Pacific in Hyperlobby.

This is a basic course, and makes for a great introduciton to this style of Air Racing!

The basic rules that you need to know are simple.

Maximum course entry speed is 370 kmh.

Red gates require knife edge crossings (ie 90 degrees angle of bank).

Blue gates require a level crossing (0 degrees angle of bank).

During any pylon crossing the pilot's helmet should not be higher than the top of the pylon.

The pilot's helmet may never be lower than half of the pylon height.

Crossing too high, or failing to cross correctly (within 5 degrees of either 90 degrees of bank or 0 degrees of bank where appropriate) will result in a 2 second time penalty being assesed.

Exceeding the maximum course entry speed, crossing a pylon too low, or in the wrong direction will result in disqualification from that round.

Touching a gate will result in a 6 second penalty.

Will you be hosting tonight? I'd like a copy of the race to practice.
