This server goes by the name of GREATERGREEN usually, but it is hosted by the "Ghost Riders 142" squadron and it is worth a look by all members (IMHO). The settings seem to vary, tonight the server was a custom map, set at 12:15 am, and with full real, plus labels and padlock. . . a few nights ago they also had externals enabled. They gave TX high praise for our server last week when I was first in their room, and the best part, at least for me is its a FAST room, my ping was 20, and most in the room were below 80, with about 15 players in there if I recal.
No substitute of course for the TX-OC3 (I might be biased), but if UBI is dead, or if you are at HL, take a look for the room named GREATERGREEN.
Their website has a keen little deal off to the right that shows the exact server settings, I guess going in the room tells you that too. . but its still kinda cool. Those GR members that I have met seemed like a good bunch, and I look forward to meeting more.

"The Server is located in Oakland CA, and runs 24x7 out of a Data Center on multiple T3's. The server rules are simple: Act respectfully toward other players at all times, and no vulching. Also, high ping times may get you kicked (sorry). Failure to abide by server rules will get you removed."

Take a look at their site here: http://www.greatergreen.com/il2/

Thanks EcoDragon for the kind words. This is GR//142 Sammie and I run the server, and while I don't think of myself as the leader of GR142, I do handle most affairs. Anyway, you guys are welcome there anytime.I am trying to get a group of squads together that ping well and would like to get invloved in some squad scrims. 4v4 with full real, except 2k icons and 'padlock on', would be the ideal settings. Let me know if your squad is interested. You may reach me here: gr142_sammie@greatergreen.comAlso, I see on your site that a member of your squadron has developed some apps to better administer a server. I would be very interested in these if they are available for sharing. My servers are remotely located, so anything to make the administration easier is greatly apprciated. That map-cycler is of particular interest.Cya in the skies,Sammie

I was flying with Eco when we checked out your server. Greatergreen and Aviar were the best servers on HL. As for the server admin apps, they aren't apps in the purist sense. I wrote some scripts that I would be happy to share with you. However, they are fickle and I would need to speak directly with you regarding a few key points. PM me with any of your instant messaging account address.Regards,TX-KingsnakeWhite 1

I'll have to try this server, sounds like a good one.Wish my local telephone company wasnt so harsh on T1'sI would love to build a server for IL2 myself, but a T1 was 1000 per month last time I checked : ( OC3 would be insane priceI assume TX's server is run from a buisness? or school? Im on DSL in Ohio, and I ping  70's to TX all the time which is soooooonice to have in IL2. I hope I can get a nice ping to this Greater Green servertoo

Thanks Kingsnake, I sent you my contact info.Mooby, I am guessing you will ping under 100, but since the server is located in Oakland CA, around 80 would be my best guess. Also, you can connect using the ip: 209.209.44.54 or All-Seeing Eye (my preference - server is called 'greatergreen.com for info'). HL is great if your looking around for a game, but so is ASE, and if you know where you want to go, it can save you time and CPU to connect directly.

Sammie,Sent you a PM just now. I'd be interested in collaborating with your squad on server and map issues...the more heads working on things the better they end up IMHO. Let me know what you think,S~TX-Zen"Black 6"TX Squadron CO

....just visited the Greater Green server...and also the homepage of the hosting Squad...very nice...looks like they have it together and am glad that you fellow TX pilots hooked up with them. One note of interest is the IL2 Fighter comp site that they have in their links section...check this out as it sounds like something that we all ought to look into...here is the link..http://alloutwar.com/il2fs/IL2FS.cfm      IL2 Fighter Sweeps....read the rules...and let me know if any others are interested....also, look at the other sections on this Fighter Sweeps site...especially the "settings" pic.....looks like some fun to be had there.....Rocky...TX-CUDA on UBITX-CUDA on HyperLobby
