I watched this video that GOZR posted:

At the end of the video it shows the use of zoom view. When I setup all my view controls initially, I cleared out everything except the mouse axis view controls so it wouldn't conflict with my TrackIR. I was wondering what (exactly) I would need to map to achieve the same type of zoom control.

God knows I got so used to using zoom view in IL2 for ID and spotting purposes that I'm spoiled. Now that I see it's possible to map almost the exact same thing in RoF, I wanna do it!

So I just assigned one of my two throttle sliders to zoom (the other is assigned to mixture) -

It's the "Camera Zoom" command under "Input/Camera Controls"...

It's looking for a big ol' DirectX rotary

Sweet! I have my two throttle rotaries still unassigned in RoF. I'll get on this as soon as I get home.

There are a lot of things you can do in RoFwith the camera controls. . .and in a way that is a negative as it has a bit of a learning/translation curve, and I haven't climbed that summit myself.

You can map a hat switch to a progressive zoom, you can make it zoom instantly like a snap view, and of course you still have the TrackIR zooms. I have it on a hat, but it works a bit better on the rotary since you can set the speed high, and then regulate it with the speed you move the rotary. On the hat you must set the speed and stick with that one.
